Saying they beat the Yankees in the ALCS, but then lost 2 the Cardinals in the Series, would there still be an 89 year cuse going on.

there is no "curse" it was just an excuse Red Sox fans made for their teams past choke jobs.

I don't buy into the curse at all, for the Red Sox or the Cubs.
I don't know that, to most people, the curse was simply over the Yankees, but over the world series and if they failed to win the world series (but still getting there by beating the yankees), the curse would still be on.
But if curses actually existed, either they can be broken, in which case it wouldn't have been a curse, or they can't be (in which case they would have never won the world series).

if the sox had lost that series and the rest of the events in the following years were the same the "curse" would still be intact...the curse was winning the series...the sox have lost a few series since 1918...(1986 being the most recent) and still suffered the curse of the bambino

As the story goes, the curse of the Bambino would keep them from ever winning another world series, it never had anything directly to do with the Yankees. Therefore, the curse would still be in place had they not won the world series.

I would be surprised if the curse kept on going. I am a tigers fan and red sox fan so that might change my opinion a tid tad...but I think eventually when they had enough talent, which they did even after they won the world series, the curse would have been broken.
