$200 sounds like its a junk car.
basic rule of thumb. if its an ok car passes inspection and will last you a month or two its $500. anything less there is something wrong with it.
$1000 is basicly one step up for the 500s

Better take it into a good mechanic and have it checked out. The guy might agree to split the cost of having it evaluated.
There are a number of reasons for oil going into the breather from relatively easy to fix to needing a major engine rebuild.
With that many miles, I am thinking the eingine is getting tired but may still have a lot of life left.
If you are going to drive the truck very much, you might want somethign with a few less miles on it. If it is for occassional chores or hauling it sounds like a pretty reasonable deal.

Sounds like he means the piston rings and or valve seals are bad. You should ask him how much oil the truck burns (a quart every 1000 miles or every 50 miles, ya know?) At any rate, a vehicle for 200.00 you can't expect much from. If you buy it and it gets you around for a while, you can't complain. However, if you buy it, register it, and it breaks down in 100 miles it was a waste of money altogether. If the body and everything else is great and works fine, you may consider fixing it. Got a job and $99? If you do you can get a brand new KIA...the vehicle that is made without one US made part :(

Every time I saw oil "pushed" into the breather it has been a simple fix - replace the PCV valve. That does not mean a vehicle with a lot of miles will not have other problems but if you find oil in the breather it is almost always a bad PCV valve. $5 to $10 to fix.

All vehicles are individual to the way they were maintain when they reach the 200,000 mile state.
It all depends on how the guy took care of the Mazda. On the other hand $200 wouldn't even put tires on it so count your costs, check out how good it runs and how dependable it is (if it starts good) and then make your decision.
Hope this helps.

The price is right, but depending on your available resources you could be tackling a lot of repairs. Oil is being pushed out of the breather because of positive pressure in the crankcase. This could be as simple as replacing the PCV valve or as expensive as overhauling the engine. What you need is a good diagnostic on the truck to see what you are getting. Start out with a compression test.

Look sweet thing, if he could have sold this piece of junk he would have. None of his "buddie" want it! No other guy would have it. So it is down to the dumb women! Take a pass, it will cost you too much to put it on the road, and keep it running. Any vehicle that is "pushing" OIL - never buy! Watch for auctions, estate sales, your father's older car or be good to yourself and buy a GOOD CAR! Your safety depends on it and the people you have in your car/truck. Always take a brother, father, some smart car guy with you when looking.

check the oil, make sure its not milky , that means a headgasket leak. if oil is getting in the breather tube that is no biggie, just need to clean the valve cover exits. get yourself a truck!! you can sit in the back and play old country songs for the 4th of july!

sound like he is being fairly honest with you and the truck would scrap out near 200.00 dollars. My advise if the truck will pass inspection buy it and drive it. change the pvc valve and then check the oil daily until you know how much it's using. if you drive it for a couple months and it blows up it's still paid for itself.. or better yet drive it for a couple months and then trade it in on something better. if you trade up to a car that's about 3 grand they will probably give you at least 600.00 trade in if you can drive the truck on the lot.

The oil being pushed into the breather is most likely from badly worn piston rings. The fix will be to rebuild or replace the engine. $2,000 ballpark.
