Ive been gaining alot of weight during pregnancy. Im currently 181 pounds and I was originally 167 pounds pre-pregnancy. Im about 9-10 weeks or so. I walk most of the time and havent been eating like crazy. I only eat when Im hungry, but Im so fatigued that I do sleep in the afternoon for a couple of hours. The doctor recommended that I not gain more than 20-25 pounds because I was overweight to begin with and Im already reaching the 20 pounds. This is really scaring me. I'm doing all I can. My bf is also helping me eat healthy, but that doesnt seem to do much, every other day the scale gets higher..Any advice or suggestions. What does everyone think? This is really discouraging and Im feeling a bit miserable (NONE OF MY CLOTHES FIT!)...AKKK!

my doc said I should onyl gain 30 pounds and I have gained 32 poinds and I am 30 weeks. I eat healthy and try to stay as active as possible. Don't stress too much and talk with your dr that's what I did. She was not concerned with my weight gain. Metabloism chnage when you are pregnant, but I know what it's like to be discouraged and hate it when your clothes don't fit. Don't worry too much all this weight is needed for the baby and not everyone is the same. I personally can't stand the oh I'm 36 weeks pregnant and I have only gained 2 pounds type of comments...those are just annoying and not encouraging at all...lol...good luck and congrats!

Sweetheart, you didn't mention anything about exercise. You should have started exercising EVERY SINGLE DAY, since the beginning. I recommend since you are already further along and heavier to do this:

Today, day 1: Exercise for 20 minutes by walking or going to the pool and doing water aerobics (don't worry about your weight gain - worry about the baby and the weight loss as well as the SMALLER weight gain). You can even do some floor movement. Maybe you could do some stretches, smaller ones that don't hurt you. Make sure you walk 15 minutes a day though.

Everyday until week 12, then switch to 30 minutes exercise.

If you cramp badly exercise 5 minutes less the next day. Until your body gets used to the exercise. Then you can add 5 minutes. Just don't exercise over 30 minutes a day.

Exercise is key to a healthy pregnancy. Plus you should know for future that pregnant when you are overweight is a very scary venture and should not be attempted. I don't mean for this to be rude, but being pregnant is supposed to be one of those highlights of your life and you want to remember and ENJOY it, not worry all the time about your weight gain.

Beverages: Tomato Juice (i'm craving it ALOT - It's YUMMY!), Apple Juice (mixed with water, more condensed causes much less heartburn and tummy acid aches), water - at least 2 liters a day (of course - and lots of it), MILK (24 oz a day), 1 glass of red wine each day... OH and AVOID BEER, LIQUOR AND SODA (these things you already know). CUT BACK ON SODA = NONE AT ALL and you'll lose weight DEFINATELY (I lost 7 lbs the first month when I dropped the soda).

Food: Lunchmeat (Turkey, Ham), Colby Jack Cheese (1 slice per sandwich), wheat bread or NO bread, NO BUTTER, NO SALT, Cottage cheese, YOGURT, Tuna Fish, Tacos, SALAD w/ italian dressing, Fruits and Veggies.

B-12 helps me poop more.

Make sure you are taking your Pre-Natal Vitamins, Follic Acid, Once dailies.

NO TV DINNERS, NO PIZZA UNLESS A COUPLE OF PIECES AND IT MUST BE THIN CRUST, STAY AWAY FROM RED MEAT.

Good Luck.

29 lb is the average recommended weight gain during pregnancy. You are doing great! Beyond the 25-35 lb that is recommended (provided you are not overweight to start with), your weight gain has little to do with baby's birth weight. Besides, more than 8 lb, you are looking at a potential C-section. I gained a full 50 lb. Towards the end my OB suggested I cut down on refined carbs like rice and sweet fruits like grapes and melons. I had a 7 hour labor and popped him out easily. My son was born 7 lb 5 oz, very healthy. But 7 months after delivery, I am overweight. I have lost 20 lb (I'm breastfeeding), still 30 to go. Looking forward, I plan to gain 30 lb for the second baby. I suspect you got wiser after your 55 lb gain as well. 30 lb is great, hope you will have a wonderful delivery and healthy baby.

Don't panic a lot of it is water weight gain. I started out at 160 before pregnancy...got up to 215..after pregnancy 194. Sucks but that is life. Some of us gain weight and keep some and some gain a little and loose it all right away. As long as you do not eat a lot of bad things like sweets you should be okay. The sweets and bad foods will cause the diabeties. If you were not exercising prepregnancy do not start it will strain the baby just walk a lot and sleep when you are tired. For some this is normal just go with it. As far as clothes go bottom wise I just got size XL in elastic waist items I really liked the danskin brand at walmart, bought kind of causual capris and things (semi work out gear) yet cute and comfortable and wore a lot of solid maternity tees. Nothing too fancy because you will outgrow maternity clothes unfortunately I went through 3 sizes during my pregnancy. Hope this helps! Just do what you are doing and you will be okay do not worry....and try not to get on the scales everyday because it will make you feel bad.

First of all Congratualations I am happy to say that we are only probably a week apart I am also 10 weeks pregnant 10weeks 5 days to be exact. When i found out i was pregnant i weighed 160 pounds now honestly im not sure how much i weigh. This may not help you i know but i dont know my weight righ know. So my advice to you is to stop worrying. There are 20 different factors working against you one you sleep alot which is perfectly normal but also means that you dont move around as much at are stage this is normal. I have morning sickness and throw up atleast twice a day that may be helping me. Lastly maybe you are carrying twins. you usually gain more weight. My suggestion to you is not to worry you might just be what is it called PREGNANT and it just doesnt make since. When more of the weight becomes baby you will feel much better

Ok... Here's where a lot of medical experts differ... I too have gained a TON of weight early on in my pregnancy. I am now almost 6 and 1/2 months, it seems to be slowing down at this point. I have gained about 40 lbs so far! It has really freaked me out. However, my OB has assured me that every woman is different.... I am in perfect health and so is the baby.
Here's what I do/did.
I went and bought maternity clothes! It makes a HUGE difference! Buy clothes that fit loosley and are stretchy because your belly will grow! It will make you feel way better not to be in tight clothes. Get cute stuff you like and get a pedicure to boot!
I do NOT look at the scale when I go to the doctors office NOR do I step on the one at the house. I do not need more issues with my body right now!
Go for a brisk walk (as long as your OB says it's ok)... It will help you feel better even if it does not help with the gaining.
Drink about a gallon of water a day. Not only will it keep you hydrated, help your skin be free of issues and keep early Braxton Hicks away.... It will help your body get rid of water weight (which a lot of the gain is!).
Trust your body to do EXACTLY what it needs to do with this baby! 80% of the weight I've gained came on within the 1st 3 months.
Just wait till you feel him/her move around! It will all be worth it! PROMISE!
Very Best Wishes!
Congrats!

It is normal to gain weight during pregnancy so don't really stress about it much. As far as what you can do, well do it the right way more exercise and better food. Make sure not to do any crazy diet, pills or something extreme because you are carrying a child and it might affect him/her. You are what you eat so change your diet completely, like if you like rice eat potatoes, if you like sweets than stop eating candy and cakes eat fruits instead. Basically eat what's not normal for you but still good, you need to eat certain food for the baby so think about baby first. Good luck Luv.

Are you sure that you aren't having twins? If I were you I would do the best I could. Eat healthy and go for light walks. That really is all you can do. You can try something new after the baby or babies are born. Don't worry, it's only 9 months, you have the rest of your life to wear your clothes. Congrats on your pregnancy. Try not to worry so much, it's bad for your health.

If your only that far along, that sounds like twins, but if that has already been ruled out then I would say to ask your Doctor about what is going on, there are other things during pregnancy that can make you gain wait faster. The doctor may suggest being checked for a few things like gestational diabetes and other things. Good luck!
