It's really irritating how Americans claim themselves to be the ""world"" of evrything, when many less advantageous countries of the world have never heard of their top ranking singers, top ranking actors, top ranking bestsellers etc...
Some celebrities who boast world ranks, they go to Africa and most of the poor ppl do not even know who they are. I remeber the malawans didn't even know who Madonna was, so why are Americans claiming evrybody knows them by self-professing "the most popular artist etc.., in the world"? And considering the most wealthy persons, a lot of wealth is located outside of America eg; the Middle east..
Will they find another definition to their ranks?

Wow talk about a chip on your shoulder! Basically when those terms are used they are intended for the american audience and are not ment to be taken literally or on a world wide scope.

I think you are stereotyping the people of my great country and offending us by assuming that the so-called "Hollywood Elite" speak for or represent the people of the U.S.

The average American does not identify with the Madonnas of the world. We're too busy raising our children to be loving, respectful people who do not view the world based on color of skin or nationality or anything superficial like that.

The average American is no different than the average European or Canadian or any other nationality. We all want to be able to live our lives freely and hopefully live to see our grandchildren.

i'm american and i wondered that too when the Spurs won the NBA championship..and they were like they're the world champions..and i was thinking..no they arent..but i think america does it because people allow them to..and we're supposed to have the best country which is totally not true in many aspects..and we're most likely going to continue to do this because a lot of americans are conceited..but im still proud to be an american..

Who are those people who do all this boasting that you're yapping about ?
Are you suggesting that no American should sing or act, unless everyone in the world has access to hear or see ?
I have never heard that boast, yet you make it seem as if most Americans go round bragging. I believe that you have an over-active imagination.

Oh jealousy where art thou? If any other country thinks they are better than the US they will simply be destroyed. It's the Bush norm.
