Not much, if you consider all the facts surrounding Libby's case. The only people that want him in jail are Democrats, which make it very political. As for Bush commuting the sentence, why not! All presidents do it, Clinton pardoned hundreds of people during his term.

The only political figure that should be in jail is Sandy Burger for stealing government paper and destroying it. When you get caught like he did, there should be more penalty than community service.

Bush didn't pardon Libby. The conviction still stands. That's my first thought on it. The sentence was commuted. And I think it's a good call. The sentence was way too harsh for the crime and was politically motivated. It would be irresponsible for Bush to have not at least commuted the sentence.

You are surprised? Yet it was NOT a pardon. Ask Roger Clinton what a pardon is.
Ask the rest pardoned and commuted sentences the week b4 WJ left the White House. If you are a person who watches body language as well as speech u may note. Hillary yelling at a fundraiser? Hypocracy takes on strange bedfellows. She is with the big boys now. And her Bill can no longer save her. Rather he will sink her. HAHAHAHHAAHHAAA. Sorry but we continue to tell you so.

Libby was convicted of not telling the truth about something that was not a crime. "Outing" Plame would be a lot like "Outing" Britney Spears as an airhead singer. She was not under cover. Everybody knew what she was. In addition , Libby got thirty years for one mistruth. If your old pal Clinton, or any of the Democrats got thirty MINUTES for each lie they told, they would be in jail until the sun burns out. People who are this concerned about a pardon for Libby, but give the lefties a free ticket, are hypocrites. Are you?

the pres didn't pardon libby. he comuted his sentence. big difference here. it is my opinion that he did what he thought was best in the interests of the law. if he would have pardoned him he would not be facing probation or the fine of 1/4 million dollars and the loss of his law license. not to mention the total rath of the libs. libs already hate him so what could he do that would make them hate him more. as president he has the right to do this for scooter. i would think that the dems have more work to do for the promise they made to the american people if given the power in congress and the senate as of today they have failed to do what was promised recall the first hundred days of pelosi has she made good. there is an old saying that people that llive in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks. mr doodles

Conspiracy theorists, listen up! On Monday’s “Rush Limbaugh Show,” the conservative talk show host implored President Bush to pardon Scooter Libby. “Everything in this case is just senseless,” Limbaugh said. “There was never any crime. We knew who made the original leak about what’s-her-name. It’s unbelievable.” Then Limbaugh rendered his verdict: “It’s time for this pardon. It just really is. ... I don’t see how it could lower his standing in the polls.”

Mere hours later, Bush commutes Scooter Libby’s sentence. Was he tuned into Rush’s EIB Network up in Kennebunkport? You be the judge.

What do you think of Clinton pardoning 140 people on his last day in office?

2007-07-03 12:26:58 · answer #8 · answered by Mutt 7 · 5 0

It was a good call.
There was no underlying crime to begin with. Plame was not covert, therefor the investigation was unwarranted.
Clinton pardoned 140 on his last day. Among these were Cocaine traffickers.

I will wait to see when Bush pardons Libby.

That hasn't happen.

Libby's sentence was commuted and there is a difference.
