I remember being in 5th grade and helping my sister with her 8th grade algebra. So I think it is more likely to start in the 8th grade.

That depends on the situation, on average, most students will take algebra in 7th or 8th grade. Some kids learn math quickly and take algebra by 5th or 6th grade. The students that have problems understanding math concepts may not take algebra until 9th or 10th grade.

I took Algebra 1 last year, in 9th grade. Next year I will be taking Algebra 2.
I took pre-algebra in 7th grade and algebra in 8th grade, but I felt that the 8th grade lessons weren't enough to jump straight into algebra 2 freshmen year. If it helps at all, I go to a private Catholic school.

I think most schools start laying the ground work for algebra in 3rd and 4th grade, but yes, fifth is the first time most schools offer an algebra class.

Yes, in fact I am a 5th grader. My class learns basic algebra but I am in an extremely advanced class so I learn 7th grade algebra. Examples are: (7*8)x=1,512 x=? Answer: x=27

Kids learn the basics of algebra such as variable addition by 5th itself you might have not realized it but threre ws soemthing like 3 hundred 7 ones + 2 tens 1 ones
Then they learn the real thing at 6th but we learnt at 7th because that was omited for us (SAD)

Yes. My kids are going into 6th grade and they started introducing pre algebra in 5th grade.

I just homeschooled my son through a sixth grade curriculum and at the very end of the curriculum, they were just beginning to introduce algebraic concepts.
So I would say 6th to 7th grade.
