silence is golden that means silence is better than talking, duck tape is silver well thats a joke.

If someone can't just be silent, a little duct tape over the mouth does wonders! I think that's what it means.

I prefer to gag them with packing tape,lot cheaper.

It's easier to keep your trap shut than to have it taped up...in other words "you talk too much"....
