I am currently reading a book called _Aleister Crowley and the Ouija Board_, by J. Edward Cornelius. According to Cornelius, a Ouija Board can be a very powerful and useful Magickal tool if used properly -- which most people who "dabble" with them don't do. Crowley was going to market one at one point. I had one when I was 12, and my experiences with it were nothing but positive. I did end up destroying it when my aunt "saved" me and I went through my "Born Again" phase, but now that I've been practicing Magick for a while I've decided to revisit the Ouija Board. I am working on making one now out of oak. We've all heard horror stories about Ouija Boards, but typically these are from people who have not taken the propper precautions. I want to hear from people who have used this tool correctly, and successfully -- especially Pagans, Occultists, Magicians, Spiritualists, etc. Please share with me your positive Ouija Board experiences. No horror stories or dire warnings, please.

Yes, some people do invite in spirits that they can't get rid of. That is why it is very helpful and vitally important to know how to banish before you attempt something like this. Here are a few good Banishing Rituals, to be practiced daily so that you're really good at it when you actually need it;

and an exorcism ritual, just in case. . . .

Again, taking the propper precautions, and knowing how to protect yourself, and how to Banish, there's no reason you can't use this tool safely and effectively.

LOL! Kilroymaster probably thinks that Evolution, Homosexuality, Global Warming, and every other world religion outside Christianity is a trick of the Devil! Being an Occultist doesn't make me a Satanist. There are Occultists, mystics, and practitioners of Magick in every religion. I happen to be Pagan. I do think most Pagans think that Ouija Boards are silly, but I see no reason why a trained Occultist couldn't use one with good results. The key word there is "trained." I certainly wouldn't recommend something like this for beginners!

Good answer, Chance. My suggestion would be to learn a simple Banishing ritual to perform before and after each Ouija Board session. That should keep the "negative" entities away in the beginning, and get rid of that "somebody's watching me" feeling at the end. The Circle chant sounds good, try visualizing a Circle around the room with you in the center when you do it. Or, mark a circle on the floor in chalk, salt, a white rope, etc.

Well I used to contact the spirit world all the time with one of my friends Ouija Boards. I haven't used one for awhile, although I would like too. One negative thing I experienced after using a Ouija Board was the I always thought that their was someone always watching me. I guess I might just be paranoid, but I did certainly feel awkward after a negative interaction with one spirit. Me along with three other friends were using a board one night in one of their rooms with three of four candles lit. And I remember talking to a spirit for awhile and suddenly an overwhelmingly large shadow was cast over the room. That's when the board started acting funny and wouldn't respond. After that experience I haven't used one, although I am planning on using one in the future.

Some precautions I took were
*Placing a pure silver coin in the middle of the board, so spirits couldn't pass through into our world.
*My friends and I chanted "Thrice around the circles bound, evil sink into the ground"... to protect us after our experiences.

Hope I Helped!

I'm sure that their's a positive experience with ouija boards somewhere. But my mum used the ouija boards with her cousins like ages ago and nothing good came out of it.

But maybe, not all ouija board experiences are bad, you know. Maybe if someone was just looking forward to having fun, or on a dare, or basically just mucking around, maybe the experience will be bad. But maybe if someone had other intentions, things will end up with something different.

If used correctly and not abused, Ouija boards can work if you make sure nobody's moving the thing themselves.

In fact you don't need an Ouija board to communicate with dead spirits. Not saying that you shouldn't, but I know some people who get contacted by ghosts/spirits all the time, and I'm starting to get contacted some myself. Two nights ago I was in London and this one guy hung out in my room part of the night.

Personally I have had neither bad or good experiences. I guess I'm not sensitive in that way. However, I know of someone who was contacted by one of her dead relatives she never knew. Then with that information that came in through the spirit board, she confronted her parents just to see what they would say and they confirmed what the Ouija had told her....and her parents never told her any of the information before so it was all new to her. I don't necessarily think this was a bad experience.

I have had many good experiences as well as bad and having some bad experiences doesn't necessarily mean you didn't take the right precautions.
One of my good expereinces; It was me and my good friend Krista, anyways the first question we asked was if there were any spirit guides near...Nothing happened for the first 5-10 minutes, then the curser started to move, we asked the name of the spirit and it had told me "crhis" I took that as his name was Chris, I asked him his age and the board answered back with "5". I asked him how he died and the only answer we got was " moethr", I asked him if he knew who i was and he said yes. Well a couple years befor my grandmother had this foster kid named Chris, he was 2 or 3 at the time, well the courts decided to grant Chris's mother custody (nobody trusted her, she was a big drug head and an alcolholic) anyways come to find out, his mother had killed him one night while she was on drugs (she was putting him in the bath, didn't noticed that she only turned the HOT water on, and was holding him under the water).
I was very close to this baby, I got so attached and was devistated when he had to leave, anyways i was trying to find his mother, to see how he was doing, because he was older and i thought maybe he would have remembered me. I am not sure to this day, if that's the reason he had contacted me through the spirit board but i'm glad. He had told me he was happy where he was at and i believed him, i felt no negative energy only positive. I could feel it inside of me, sort of like the way he was feeling, i just felt happy and content.

The only person I know who used a Ouija Board had a bad experience with it. He threw it off a bridge far from his home and when he got home it was sitting on the table.

I knew of a woman who contacted her spirit guide with an Ouija board, that is a good and benevolent spirit.

I have more positive experiences than negative ones....
but I know a lot of people who've had bad ones because, as you said, they choose to be ignorant and "dabble" when in truth they needed at the very least to be more respecful.
