Some parents dont let there teens go to tanning beds because of the risk of skin cancer, but is it really that bad to go to the tanning bed if you go once a week?

Once a week is still a lot - EVERY time you expose your skin to UV rays like that, you are doing irreversible damage. Every single time you tan, your skin produces more melanin, which is the substance that can lead to melanoma - skin cancer.

You might as well be asking if smoking is safe as long as you only do it once a week. It's not.

No, tanning beds aren't safe even a little bit. Sure that tan may look great now, but even if you don't get skin cancer, you will be sorry when your face looks like a catchers mitt at 30.

Tanning beds are not safe for anyone for any amount of time. I wouldn't use one and I certainly wouldn't let my teenager use one. Try the spray on tans or a self tanning lotion.
