When you really think about it, they really are just little virtual numbers that build up when you answer a question, so really, they dont have much of a purpose but to encourage you to give advice to people who need it. Do you like getting lots of points, or just like to help answer people's questions?

actually, Lydia and Aly, u can still ask AND answer questions without any points, i dont think yahoo answers would really deprive someone of asking and answering questions just because they didn't have enough points

Actually, I DO think the points are useful.
The more points you have the more questions you can ask, and then you can get advice on something you're having a problem with.
If you need help with something, then you could ask a question, but without any points, then you wouldn't have any help!
Points are useful most of the time, and somtimes, I try to get as many points as I can so I can catch up to Lydia!!! (Like that will ever happen...she gets too many best answers all the time!) lol kidding

The points are nice but like you said they are just virtual numbers that increase over time. The most important thing is to have fun, kill some time, and if possible to help people out as well. I let the rest fall into place.

I think the points do have a...point!
The more points you have the more questions you can ask, and then you can get advice on anything. You used 5 of your points asking this question, and without your points you wouldn't have been able to!
People on here generally give good advice but you need points to get that!
EDIT: They won't let you ask questions if you don't have enough points, Megan.

I just like to help answer people's questions and have some fun, too. The points don't get you anything, other than more flexibility on the site as you get into the higher levels.

answer questions, I think the points are kind of stupid, because a lot of people just answer questions stupidly to get points. Ok, sometimes I do that.
