Same as taking English. You will use parts of it, if only ocassionally. If you are going into science, you will begin to appreciate the usefullness. If not, well, call it a rite of passage like a frat hazing. Once the pain of taking it goes away, you can tease the next group that has to take it. (It is also good for Jeopardy shows)
