We are going to be setting up T1 in our office here pretty soon, and I've gotten the task of setting it up. Its my understanding that the T1 line comes in and goes to the T1 router, then I use a crossover cable to hook to a switch to run to the hardwired devices. Now, we want to be wireless as well. We have about 8 wired devices and a cpl wireless. Are there wireless switches I can buy that integrates wireless into the switch? Or do I have to buy an "access point" to attach to the switch? And does anyone have any recommendations on switches...access points?

I cant use cable, not available, and the dsl isnt cutting it, thats what we have now, and there are all sorts of problems...by using the T1 we added a phone package with it and cut our cost by about 400 a month, Our old phone bills were in the 500 a month range from long distance and such.
Cisco is for sure outta the question, there seem to be plenty of other devices for a fraction of cost. Newegg and Tigerdirect seem to have decent prices as far as switched form what I've seen , havent checked pricewatch yet. The package i bought with the T1 includes a router, but its not a multi-port router, therefore the switch, so i cant just hook another wireless router up to the ethernet outputs of the T1 router correct?

You can just take the T1 out of whatever device and connect a DSL/CABLE router like Linksys or Dlink to the output. If you think of T1 as just an expensive DSL line ---

Once the line is converted to ethernet it works just like any other ethernet connection.. So just use a GOOD wireless router to connect into it and your done. (I know I have 10 or so clients with just that setup at present. We use Buffalo routers and Netgear but any will indeed work.)

Cisco is your best bet of equipment to hook into T1. Hope you have a large budget.

Cisco also has wireless devices that can integrate into your network.

With so few devices, why a T1? you can get business grade cable or DSL with great upload and download speeds for a fraction of the cost and none of the headaches of learning Cisco or the expense of Cisco type equipment.

no there isn't any switchs that have wireless capability because to be wireless, the device must beable to recognizer mac addresses. which a switch doesn't do. as for the router/wireless access point i would suggest using one with 802.11"N" capability. it will give you more range and faster speeds. i use WWW.neweg.com for my computer/ periphial purchases. since they have excelent shipping/prices and have a user rating ability.
