We have microphones on our headphones so we don't have to mess with the on-desk kind.

You can find a simple microphone in almost any store that sells computer accessories. I bought one for $10 at Target. Since most of these stores have online ordering available, you should be able to get it that way, too.

Most PCs have a 3.5 mm microphone jack. There are thousands of microphones that have such a connector.

yup you can plug them in.. some monitors have them built in.
but you can buy a mic. from most electronic stores.
Best-buy, circuit city, some wal-marts may carry them too.
