I got pregnant by missing my dose by like 6hours. I had an alarm and was usually good about talking it within a 2 hour window. Then one day I left it at home and I just had a bad feeling about it but thought it wouldn't really be a big deal but it was and then I miscarried. I got pregnant the week after I missed taking my dose on time. OBGYN said it was all related to the BCP. So now I am on the Nuva-Ring. It is the greatest thing in the whole world. I love it. I never have to worry about a missed does or take a BCP ever again YEAH!!!

Read the instructions that come with your pills. They are inside of every insert, just pull them out and look through them. Depending on the brand, it could affect you, but you won't know until you look through.
If you find that your particular brand REQUIRES you to take it at the exact same time every day, you might want to switch brands...otherwise you could have breakthrough bleeding (basically an extra period thrown in...) or you could end up getting pregnant. They generally recommend that if you miss a pill altogether you take two the next day and be sure to use a condom for a specified amount of time. Most pills don't have any serious repercussions from missing your scheduled "time", and if you really like the pill you are on, you could always try adjusting your schedule so that you are around to take the pill--i.e., first thing in the morning.
If it becomes too much of a hassle, look into different forms of BC...there's the patch, nuvaring, and Merina...all of which are done on a much less frequent basis.
Good luck!!

That little bit of time won't hurt a thing. I would like to suggest a drug free method of birth control for you though. I loved my diaphragm. No chemicals in my body. Don't have to use it if I'm not having sex. It's easy to use, and can be put in place by your partner if you want, or in the bathroom while cleaning up a bit. And if you don't like having sex on your period, the diaphragm will hold the blood for quite a while, just put on a mini-pad in case. The doctor tells you everything you need to know and fits you with the correct size. It's more effective than the pill too. You use the equivalent to a rubber for a woman, and spermicide. It's so much better for your body.
Peace

I've been on the pill for 5 years and I have not been the best at remembering to take it at the exact time. I haven't got pregnant as a result of this. I think it has to be a difference of more than 12 hours or more to be of any harm. Double check with your doctor but I'm pretty sure on this.

depending on the pill, yes, it could affect effectiveness. usually pills have a 12 hour windows. some milder ones have a 6 hour window. as long as you are within that window (check the leaflet that came with the pill), it is OK and you are safe,
appoint an alarm on your mobile, pda, or watch in order not to forget, or just as of next month, change the hour you take it at

when i was taking birth control, i set an alarm on my cell phone for every day, and also kept the pills in my purse.
if you need, then create a list of things and number them (i.e. 1. cell phone, 2. wallet, 3. birth control) and whenever you leave, just count your things, 1. check, 2. check, 3. check. and that should help a lot. if you come up short, then look for all the things before you leave.
i hope this helps :D

When i was on the pill i used to take it at a different time every day (if i even remembered) and never got pregnant. that is until i went an entire month without it. if you're worried about it, i suggest getting an IUD. I got one after i had my daughter and it rules. i don't have a period hardly ever and if i do it's practically nothing. it lasts for up to 5 years and i haven't had a single complication with it. it's expensive unless you have insurance but over time the cost is well worth it. i don't have to worry about getting my prescription filled and making time to pick it up and my boyfriend and i can have sex whenever. i highly reccommend it.

Yes it can mess you up! Mine I am suppose to take within 10 minutes of the day before... I took mine when ever I felt like it, or I should say whenever I remembered.. then I forgot for 2 days and ended up having my period for 2 whole weeks.. NOW THAT SUCKS!! I would switch to something else or take it every time you brush your teeth in the morning....or have it sitting there on your night stand when you get up in the morning, or go to bed.. Which ever works for you

Depends on the brand you're taking. Some are very sensitive, others not as much. Read the info that comes with the pack or ask your doctor.
Put the pills somewhere you can't forget - under your contact case, next to your toothbrush, in your car or in your purse.

Yes, missing by more than 2 hours or so can mess it up, both with how well it protects and how well it prevents cramps! Also, it can mess up your schedule, causing it to come late or early (probably late).
Maybe find a different time. That's what I had to do.
