Are you running WPA security ? You (or whomever set it up) should know.
Go into your wireless setup (on the client notebook or desktop) and view available wireless networks. The software identifies the open networks from the secured ones.

If you are operating it "out of the box" without implementing any security measures, then it it not secure.
There are some steps to make it rock solid
1. Change the admin password to the router!!!!!!!
2. Implement a WPA key
3. Change and hide the SSID
4. Use MAC Address Filtering.
If this sounds all too confusing to you, then you will need the assistance of a computer guru to help you. After all, you did mention you want your wireless network to be secure.

into your browser type
192.168.2.1
and log in... no password is required.
go in to the wireless settings and enable
WPA Security Mode
if that not available Choose WEP Mode
add a password that you want all wireless uses using
For secutiry: by Default Belkin Wireless routers have no password... Make sure to add one.
So basily you adding a password so no one can get in your router + choosing your encryption mode and setting up a password so no one can log on the net through your router

Nothing is secure believe me. My husband could hear the conversation of the people next door speaking on their wwfii phone scary stuff. And he has also had the experience of someone listening into his telephone calls on his mobile whilst he was speaking to me from somewhere in Scotland.
He only found out by accident when the person listening had the decency to phone him up and tell him...no nothing is secure no matter what anyone says.

let me at it, i can break most of them in about 10 minutes, you should be using WPAPSK (wireless protected access personal security key) that is the most secure if your using WEP then don't use anything less than 128bit if you go to connect to the network and there is a little padlock by it and it says secure its secured
