Usually the two are synonymous

Hey Daniel, that is just because this section is really, really, really, really, really flooded with hate messages from self-proclaimed Christians. Up to a point that you almost automatically and inconcienstly start to assume that the two things go hand in hand.

Good for you that you are open. That's a compliment for your religion.

Just a thing : the Bible is open to very many interpretations, you can decide to take them literally, or symbolically. If you take them literally, then also divorced people should be put to death, and men will not be allowed to have beards.

If your reading is morally and symbolically, then you see nothing but acceptance, love, understanding, and ALL Gods children, not just the ones with the standard sexuality.

Good luck to you !

True Christians are not Homophobes because they follow the message of Christ or love, tolerance, understanding and peace.

The Modern Church has twisted that message into a twisted and Satanic doctrine of hate and bigotry.

People forget but inn the past the Church also supported that Black people are abominations.
The excuse to discriminate was that they carry the Mark of Cain in their black skin.

Those "Christians" that said that is was God's will to hate the blacks are now burning in Hell. Today's "Christians" that say that it is God's will to hate gays will join them soon.

Hope this answer helps you to understand your religion a little better.

I agree. I follow God, I am a Christian myself. However I believe the bible is open to interpretation. Seriously, who knows what is right or wrong about it? We will only know what God "really" meant when we meet him.

I try to follow things I believe are good and true the best way I can. I believe that God wants me to love and accept others more than condemn them for their choices. I also beliece God made everyone just the way they are on purpose, and I have no right to judge his work.

I am Catholic and personally, I believe that because of what the Bible says, the sex act between two people of the same sex is wrong. But me? I'm gay. (REALLY gay.) Being Catholic, I can see how people can take what the bible says to mean something else entirely. A lot of people who are Christian do take what the bible says too far and say that just BEING gay is wrong. It's easy to expect a Christian to be a homophobe because the bible says the act is wrong, and it's not uncommon for people to take what the Bible says WAY out of context. It happens a lot.

Well, following God doesn't mean condemning his people, saying that they chose to commit a grave sin, etc. It doesn't work that way. I am a straight Christian that supports LGBT with all my heart. It is possible. I promote equality. Being a Christian that follows God means that you love all people equally. Being LGBT isn't a choice, and it is neither sin nor does it deserve condemnation.

You are considered homophobe when you display an irrational fear of homosexuality. If you are a Christian, and do not pose your opinions on others, I don't see any reasons why anyone should consider you a homophobe. Unless you have been thumping the Bible on homosexual people, and asking them to repent lest they go to hell or some such.

You got stereotyped!

Its just that Christians are often the quickest to judge and condemn other people, sad but true.

But I know many fabulous Christians who actually love the sinner and not the sin and who actually let God judge another person and not they themselves!!!

When you are a good person that is all that really matters.

You can't have it both ways, or you are just another common hypocrite. The bible is homophobic. If you want to follow the "good book" you cannot pick and choose how you want to follow it.

Dude...based on many of your past answers in the LGBT section you seem to be pretty open-minded, so you be cool with me. Peace.
