it is only a personal choice to wear sunglasses at night for most people. Some people might have light sensitivity. I do, infact I will have my glasses on during the day and then the sun will go down and I didn't even notice because I'm so light sensitive I leave them on. And no it is not a fashion statement in New York. Some people just don't want to be seen. Maybe they want their privacy.

Personally I think it makes most people look pretty stupid and I really don’t see the point. Most of my friends and I think people are “trying to hard” when we see them wearing sunglasses at night especially when it is in a bar or a club. Way too many people seem to think it looks cool for some reason. My thing is, it is hard enough to see when it is dark out, why wear sunglasses which only serve to diminish your vision further? It really doesn’t make sense when you think about it, unless the wearer has some kind of eye condition (or perhaps epilepsy-which I hear can be triggered by strobe lights in night clubs).

I don't know about a NY fashion, but I don't really think anything of it. I figure they forgot they were there (kind of like losing them on top of your head), are stoned/drunk, or have a migraine. I wear my sunglasses indoors and at night whenever I have a migraine!

I am so glad you asked this question. I have often wondered why some have been guided by the devices of their meat casings decide to cover the optical organ in periods of reduced light. Perhaps it is for no other reason than valid thought, which all thought is valid. Awesome concept in that their meat casing will be reaped away and the soul released eventually. Your thoughts?

I think they are kind of scary because if you really think about it if they where sunglasses at night they might be trying for someone not to notice them. But, then again they might just really like there sunglasses.

They want to be like Corey Hart. Actually certain ones reduce glare at night too. I don't about New York but in Hollywood it can be.

they could be light sensitive too. I am and I do where my sun glassed driving at night because the lights of the oncoming traffic hurts my eyes. So don';t the office lights at work. In fact if I don't wear them.... I get migraines.
So all people who where them at night are not stoned.

Are you talking about me? I guess not since I live in Florida and it has nothing to do with fashion, lol. I am light sensitive and it helps cut down on glare from oncoming traffic.

I don't trust them, anyone who doesn't bother to take off their sunglasses when they come into contact with people have no respect for others. Therefore can't be trusted.
