At this point a healthy Verlander.

Liriano looks to have a world of talent but it won't do him or his team any good sitting on the bench with arm problems as he has for most of his young career in MLB. He looks to have some kinks in his delivery which I am sure they are working on. Verlander looks like the kind of pitcher that could be a workhorse in the future, but they will have to keep an eye on him as well. You might remember that he came up with a tired arm at the end of last year. To answer your question, Liriano might be the more talented of the two but I would take the more dependable Verlander.

Heresy! Verlander just threw a no hitter, Liriano hasn't pitched in a year, his injury is very serious and could be detrimental to his still extremely short career.
C'mon, don't be fooled guys. You could compare Liriano to Verlander last year when they were both putting up similar numbers, but who was able to come back and do it again this year?
King Felix had made a similar splash to Liriano when he came up, and he's still struggling to put it together some two and a half years later. There's no way Liriano continues the dominance if/when he returns. I don't care how good his stuff is.
I'll take the guy who's arguably the best pitcher on arguably the best team in baseball.

Verlander...he is an awesome addition to the Tigers pitching staff. I think he would be an asset to any other teams pitching staff if he were located anywhere beside Detroit as well. This has NOTHING against Liriano, who I say is one of the best young pitchers in baseball today, and should be a great when he is healthy. BUT! Verlander is my pick still because of hitting 100 with his fastball on most days, and a change of speeds and great location that fools hitters tremendously.

That is a great question, however seeing the severity of Liriano's injury and the smoke that Verlanders been dealing, I would go with Verlander.

Justin Verlander's stats from final 365 days: 30 starts off 17-9 checklist 124 ok 3.sixty two era Francisco Liriano's stats from final 365 days: 28 video games, sixteen starts off 12-3 checklist one hundred forty four ok 2.sixteen era If Liriano can come decrease back from that elbow harm next 365 days he might desire to be arms down a greater robust pitcher than Verlander. besides the actuality that Verlander has some playoff journey, Liriano is a few distance greater unhittable. 28 video games with sixteen starts off and he had an era of two.sixteen? i think of that speaks for itself.

I would take a healthy Liriano. I heard one baseball analyst say, "He's a lot like Johan Santana, except his fastball is faster and is slider breaks more" To me that will eventually mean better overall. And better than Santana is the best to me. But as of right now an injury prone Liriano doesn't sound good compared to Verlander who is a young stud.

I'd take a healthy Liriano over any pitcher in baseball not named Johan Santana. He's devestatingly good, and he's got a shot at being on Santana's level or better.
Verlander is an outstanding young pitcher, too, and I don't think you could go wrong choosing him. Still, I'll take Liriano over pretty much anyone. If he was healthy, the Twins would be battling with the Tigers and Tribe.

Liriano was a tough pitcher to solve last year. Verlander was pretty good to. but I'd want Liriano on my team.

I would take the young arm, Verlander. Got many years to improve and gain a few mph on his whip. Haven't see Liriano do too much, hasn't really impressed me. I would take the man who will later in his career succeed in his pitching if he keeps maintaining and locating his pitches. With his young arm throwing gas and his insane breaking ball, he's a beast. haha.
