Lets be honest all Presidents have done this and I'm talking about a lot more controversial pardons and commuted sentences. Jimmy Hoffa, G. Gordon Liddy, Casper Weinberger, Marc Rich, Patty Hearst... the list is endless. Now with this one everyone seems shocked and appalled by it or trying to hold Bush to a higher standard. Really people this isn't nothing new.

I'm not a fan of the decision but it really doesn't impact me.

I'm with you on this. But I guess it's something that brightens people's otherwise boring day. You are definitely right, this is common practice by all presidents of this country. Even a majority of the presidential hopefuls agree with Bush's decision. If Bush was breaking laws, then why would the courts grant him the commute? It states in the constitution that he has the right to do this. besides, Libby didn't get away with anything, he stil got 2.5 years probation and a 250,000 dollar fine. In my eyes, that's a decent punishment.

Sure just sit there and dont concern yourself with a treasonous act being excused. Its not like the lawmakers should have to be held accountable for the law they enforce, right? Dont bother voting either. Since people werwe pardoned in the past, I guess that is a very valid reason to not concerny yourself with anyones pardoning in the present or future.

Not new. But different. None of the names you mentioned were pardoned to keep them from singing. Libby was going to tell the world that Cheney was behind a plot of punish Joe Wilson by outing his wife as an agent, which is ILLEGAL. Cheney would have goen to jail with Libby's testimony. The pardon kept him quiet.

COVERUP!

Uh...listen.

CIA operative gets her cover blown as retaliation for her husband's article on some forged memo that the President (after being told he shouldn't use it) uses in his State of the Union speech as a reason for an invasion. During the investigation Libby commits obstruction of justice and perjury (!) charges most likely to protect and hide the real criminals who ordered it and Bush decides to commute his sentence so that Libby doesn't have to go to jail.

I've had all the honor and integrity I can stomach from this administration.

If you're not outraged, then you aren't breathing.

the only thing that surprised me is that it happened so soon.. I figured they'd just keep him out on bail while the appeals were going on until the end of Bush's term.. which is when I expected a full pardon.

although I hate what he did

I would have been disappointed in Bush if he hadn't commuted the sentence of someone who put his career on the chopping block to protect Cheney and Bush

You could care less? Does that mean you actually care quite a bit and there is room for you to care less, or does that mean you couldn't care less because it is logically impossible for you to care less?

Never understood that phrase tbh..

If Libby has a secret to keep do you think that he will have an "accident"?
