Yes, you can return to work sooner than 6 weeks. I had a c-section, and had to find a job after only 2 weeks, and started working after 4. I had no choice. My husband does not work due to a car accident, but does not qualify for disability, and someone has to put food on the table and diapers on baby bottoms. I absolutely hated being away from my new little baby every moment, and still do 6 months later, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. My son and I have a wonderful bond, and he lights up when I come home. Leaving him so early has had no negative effedt on his attachment skills, or developement. In fact, he is advanced for his age. So, if you have the option to wait, do so. But, if like me you need the money to care for and provide for your family, then yes you can return to work before 6 weeks.

At my job they required a written notice from the doctor saying I was physically ok to go back to work, but I still took 8 weeks - even though 2 were without pay.

Can your work legally cancel your insurance like that, that doesn't sound right - especially with a baby in NICU. If you need to get back to work to maintain the insurance that will cover your baby's expenses while in NICU then I guess that's what you've got to do - sometimes things are just not fair. Good luck.

I don't think that you are being selfish. Everybody has different reasons for wanting to go back to work. When I was on materinty leave I couldn't wait to go back to work. Not that I didn't love my child because she is all I think about all the time but because I wanted to get back in a routine. Usually, the doctor wants to see you 6 weeks after labor so until then you shouldn't go back. Just relax and try to enjoy this time with your baby!! Good Luck and Congrats!!

Why such a hurry? Unless you are on leave without pay. You will want to spend more valuable time with the baby. I think you can go, but why? If I had a paid leave I would have taken all the time I could to be with my daughter and have her be a bit stronger before throwing her out to a daycare of baby sitter.
I would try to see if I could do a part time or maybe even work from home until baby is stronger.

I had a C-area and it replaced into fairly tough convalescing and that i replaced into in soreness for 2 weeks then nonetheless sore to today, yet my fiance and that i had intercourse after 3 weeks and each thing replaced into fantastic.. i did not have my toddler the organic way (unfortunatley :( ) so possibly it is why it replaced into ok for me.. on account which you unquestionably stretched your pelvic floor muscle mass, you could desire to discover that intercourse isn't as basic nonetheless... it may harm or purely sense extraordinary. ANdyes you're VERY fertile when you have a toddler... Your cervix continues to be approximately 2-3cm dilated that's like an open gate for those litle swimmers to pass with the aid of and discover that egg! SO be careful!

I went tp work exactly 4 weeks after having my son. I didn't have any complications during birth though so I had different circumstances than some people.
I suggest getting the okay form your dr. first. Plus, if you breastfeed you may wanna give yourself more time to get baby on a schedule, and what not.

It would depend on what kind of work you do. Most doctors don't release you to go back until after your 6 week checkup. But if your job isn't physically demanding and you have no other choice you probably could. I can't imagine going back that early.

It really depends on your job and your childcare. I went back at 4 weeks (I'm a teacher and it was the beginning of a school year) and my mom kept my baby...I missed him but he was fine. I had a friend who went back at 2 weeks but had a nanny at her job and was still able to nurse.

You have to think about the whole situation...child care, whether you can afford to be off etc.

Good luck

my job required me to have a release from my doctor, who dosent check you until 6 weeks. Daycare dosent take a child until 6 weeks old. So it was impossible for me.
But my job only paid me for 4 weeks at 100 % pay., Thats the crappy part! BUt i still enjoyed my time off!

Depends on your boss. I was a single mother and went back to work after 11 days. But I bled alot longer than normal too.
