Can starting pokemon be shiny on ruby?

For 5 days now i've reset my game 550 times for a shiny mudkip, I don't want to break my game and if it can be shiny is it the same chances as a regular pokemon?

its possible. but there is a 1/8192 chance of gettin a shiny. if u do it thousands more times u'll eventually get it.

it happens very rarley but it still happens...

i think the odds are 1472:1 or something like that

i have a shiny mudkip on sapphire tho....

just about 8000 more times and it will be shiny
