I'm about 5'3" and I am interested in a sport bike. My brother just bought a Honda CBR600F4i and I could probably drive it, but its a stretch to hold it up, deffinately not on two feet. I know that Kawasaki has their Ninja 250, but I was kind of looking for something with a more sporty style. Any suggestions? Would a lowering kit be best?

You can lower the bike a little but it will affect the handling. You didn't say whether or not you already ride a bike so I'm assuming you don't.
Find a good used small bike to learn on, a dirt bike preferably. Learn to ride it well and you'll learn you don't have to have both feet flat on the ground to hold the bike up. I'm 5'10" and have a Suzuki DL 1000 and it's so tall I can only put one foot down and I have to stand on the ball of my foot. It's all balance Darlin.
If you decide to go straight to a sport bike go to all the shops in your area and sit on everything that flips your switch and some that don't. Take your time deciding and get your brother to help you get the feel of his sport bike while it's sitting still. Sit on it and balance it. Do it every day for a few minutes a couple times a day until it becomes natural. Good Luck

If you don't have experience riding other kinds of bikes, I'd say to stay with 500 cc's and under for your first bike, rather than hopping on a 100 horsepower roadgoing torpedo. If the Kawasaki Ninja's styling doesn't turn your crank, check out a Suzuki GS500F or a Buell Blast with the optional extra-low seat.

If, on the other hand, you've already put 12,000 miles on a cruiser and are wondering where to go from there, you could go for the sportbike with the lowering kit.

You can lower any sport bike a few inches to make it more comfortable. You want to make sure that you can be flat footed on the bike when it is standing still.

yeah you can lower any bike, dont forget that this does affect handling, the overall ride of the bike and then also the bike when its on the sidestand. people re so naive when it comes to tailoring a bike, they think you can just lower away and be all set, when you lower the bike you affect everything about how a bike handles.

Hate to bust ya out but that sporty style can kill ya fast. Be careful hopefully your bro help ya a little. Working at a dealership in sales for several yrs afforded me some knowledge in this area. A lot of people unfortunately for them bought sport bikes based on the image they thought it conveyed. What they did not consider, despite warning, is that these types of bikes are VERY powerful and fast and the human brain is only designed for walking and running.
A 600 will go 0-60 in less than 4 seconds.

DONT LET EGO GET YOU KILLED. and there enough idiots riding sports giving us a bad name. If you decide to do this make the decision maturely.

For a little lass who wants one of the most classic designs in a pure street bike, check out the Yamaha "Virago" 250. This is the only size Virago still in production; but it has a huge number of devout followers. It's perfect for you because it's slim, very well balanced, lightweight, and has one of the lowest seats (from the ground) of any factory bike. The Honda "Shadow" (in it smaller sizes) is another winner and just as dependable, but I'm not sure if it sits as low as the Virago. You'll be queen of the hill sitting on either of these two little beauties. PS, my avatar is me sitting on an '86 Virago 700SS.

The GSXR 600 can be lowered very well. There are kits and parts just for this. You can get a GSXR600 very low and you should be fine.

You can email for details or parts - gsxerrider1000@yahoo.com

your best bet would be to head over to a big motorcycle dealer that carries a few different brands of motorcycles and sit on everything that looks good. Your bound to find something that both looks good and is the right size.
