No, at least he was honest enough to talk about it and not pretend it never happened or did not inhale and as long as he is not doing drugs now, I could not care less.
We need honest people right now, those that can talk about the tough things unlike the suits we have now that talked out both sides of their mouth.
We don't need an actor who claims he is conservative yet was a lobbyist for a pharmaceutical company that charges an arm and a leg of prescription drugs.

Well, I don't have an exact quote handy, but it is my recollection from reading excerpts of his FIRST book, that it was not only drug use (and we are not just talking about marijuana here), but dealing as well.
Yes, that should bother you. A man's past history should be taken into account when determining what type of character a person has - especially for the leader of our great country. In every other facet of life a person's past drug use is looked at - employment applications, college applications, federal school loans, etc. Why should the President be any different. Yes, we should demand the utmost highest character for the job of President of the United States. As a matter of fact, I would like to see drug testing while in office.

A LOT more people than you think have prior drug use experience. You don't think that Bush, Clinton, Bush H., Reagan did drugs? You don't think the majority of members of Congress did drugs at one point in their lives(or still are)? It's a matter of who's willing to admit it and who can keep it secret. It's not a big deal to a lot of Americans, but to most it is a very taboo and evil thing.
Don't judge someone by past drug use. Judge them by their convictions and opinions.

FDR had several strong drinks before noon and that was during prohibition.
In fact, he served Stalin some of his own "bathtub gin" which was supposedly made in the White House. Stalin later commented that either Americans have no interest in their own laws or they simply recognize what a foolish act prohibition was.
Sheesh: wise words from Stalin? That's some scary stuff.

I does Bush's piror drug use bother you, what about Bill Clinton's, How about JFK's, JFK may have "needed" them yet he abused them, but lots of people have done things in the past and have changed, and I'm not for Obama, but if that's your only problem with him think about what he's doing now and if you like it.

I agree with angflyboy86. The past drug use is the past ... unless it was in the past few hours (just kidding) but your desire to vote for a radical liberal idiot like Obama should be cause for concern.
Seriously, I urge you to look deeper at his convictions, past voting record, etc. He is not presidential material.
Bambis, I have read his book...made me understand that he is ABSOLUTELY wrong for the job.
frances 1...you are joking, right? By that definition, anyone who has ever had a drink of alcohol, taken any number of cough syrups, taken any prescription pain killer, etc...should never be president. Hell, if that is the case, anyone who has ever committed a crime should not be president because their moral fabric is torn. Uh oh maybe the Christian community should rail against anyone who has sinned... JESUS FOR PRES!!! I do not think He will take the job.

No it shouldnt, look at Clinton, he had drug issues and I am sure just about any person in politics is using drugs right now or they have before! But then again, maybe that is why the government is so screwed up!

No it really shouldn't. Obama had the courage and intelligence to admit to and acknowledge his mistake so he should be respected for that.
Vote for who you think is going to do the best job and if you think Obama will, then vote for him.

what has he done that makes you wanna vote for him? Have you checked his voting schedule -- or the bills he has put forth in the Senate? His drug use (many years ago) I think would not be the major question -- what has he done for this country -- or is because he is just another pretty face that makes you think he'll be doing the best job -- you people scare me with your decision making skills -- if you worked for me I'd fire you with that kinda decision making!
