Yes it can be primarily associated with heredity, it also can be contributed to by your environment. Example: My uncle adopted a young baby from a family where everyone was 4 ft tall or even shorter. This young boy grew up to be 5'11". Doctors say it was because he lived in a family where all of the men were well over 6' tall.
