My daugher just turned 7 months and measures 28 inches and weighs 17 pounds 13 ounces. I dont think I overfeed her. She drinks about 24 ounces of formula a day. About 4 tablespoons of baby cereal and a tub and a half of 2nd foods. How big is/was your baby at 7 months and what did you feed them?

When my son was 7 months he was just about the same as your daughter...maybe even heavier, but was and still is completely healthy. I had the same concerns that you're having, but I was constantly asking the doctor if he was too big, if I feed him too much and he told me that as long as the baby wants it and isnt refusing at all, then its completely fine. Babies will not eat if they're not hungry. My son had three meals a day with 2 healthy snacks in between, AND a few bottles through out the day beginning at around 5 months!! My son is now13 months and has wonderful eating habits and is right on target with his weight for his height. I wouldnt worry about it--but if your concerns continue it might not be a bad idea to contact your pediatrician just for a medical opinion.

I can't remember what my son was at 7 months... at 9 months he was almost 22 pounds, and he didn't gain any weight after that for almost a year because he was so chubby! At 7 months my son was just breastfeeding. I tried to get him take baby food, but he just wasn't interested, he would eat a bite or two and that was it. My stepson was about 16 pounds at 7 months, and eating baby food like a little piglet. He had 5 eight ounce bottles a day, also. My daughter at 9 months was 15 pounds and very underweight (under the 5th percentile). She was eating lots of baby food and cereal and also breastfeeding. Once your daughter starts walking, I bet her weight evens out to normal, it has happened with all the chubby babies I know! Also, as long as she's eating healthy foods (fruits and veggies and baby foods), I wouldn't worry about her eating too much, it doesn't sounds like she eats too much at all! Good luck!

Compairing your baby to someone elses isn't the best idea!

Babies will only eat when they are hungry, they do not over eat, that is something we do as adults, children don't know how.

Just watch for signs that she is no longer hungry. Turning her head away from the spoon, laying the bottle down, playing instead of eating. don't force her to eat, even that last bite, or the last few ounces of the bottle.

I think your baby is a healthy weight. My daughter was about that size at 1 year, she is still in the bottom 5 % for height and weight, but she eats well, sleeps well, and is way ahead in her learning.

Looking at the growth charts your daughter is at 95% for height and 75% for weight. I have enclosed the link

For some reason all those numbers floating around messed with my head....

But you daughter sounds healthy (maybe i'm not...?).

If you are worrie about a weight issue speak with your Dr. formula feeding sometimes do lead to over weight children, though I don't know the stats. She sounds find though, I wouldn't worry yourself.

p.s ruby tuesday the song, from Children of Men is amazing!

My little girl is a tiny little peanut...she's 10 months old and only weighs 16.5 lbs and is 28" long. Your daughter sounds perfectly normal and you really shouldn't worry about it :-)

mine were born heavy so they were probably heavier than yours which is fine and nothing wrong with a healthy looking baby and yes I would say you are right on track with her . good luck .
