I couldn't believe it, but after you think about it it's kinda cool. They can actually make rings, earrings, chains, all kinds of jewelry from loved ones that have passed, or from someones hair. I just want some opinions on this. Or can anyone find me a price (just out of curiousity) I have been to the website, no prices available. They are called Life Gems.

Making jewelry from the hair of relatives who have passed on is actually a very old custom dating back to the Middle Ages. it was called memento mori which means "remember me" in Latin and later called mourning jewelry.

Life Gems upped the technology though and figured out a way to make diamonds from the ashes of cremated loved ones, it was all over the news when they first went into business. They also make gems from the cremated remains of pets.

I did find a page that details their pricing, but I don't know how dated it is.

Seems to me real diamonds are cheaper.

Yeah, I've heard about that. I think it's pretty expensive and the process takes a while. Only thing is, what if you lose your piece of jewelry somewhere? Then you'd feel just awful. I don't know how I feel about having Mom & Dad turned into diamonds. I just can't decide if that's creepy or cool. Maybe that's just the traditional side of me, but if there's a grave, I'd feel like there'd be a more concrete place (no pun intended, hon) to visit them, even though their souls have passed on. Also, like with an urn of ashes, you've got to keep that stuff around without spilling it, losing it, and so on. Who's to say future generations will have the same appreciation of these artifacts as we did? That might pose a problem. Good question, hon.
