Love is something that has to be searched out, respected, appreciated and returned. Love isn't something that just happens without doing anything. The kind of "love" that doesn't exist but is believed anyhow, isn't good for anyone.

This is a subjective topic.Any answer for this question will be influenced & determined by the experience and the people around the answerer.Personally I think there are various factors which make you happy.Lets look at an analogy, suppose your day went excellent everything was perfect, the way you wanted it to be but wait a minute your phone rings & your fiance says she/he wants to break up the relationship with you.Now what, you can take it as,someone who does not want you then why should i be bothered about him/her.But no,each & every person around you has an impact over your feeling of happiness or sadness & this makes your heart sink with sadness although the proportion of happy & sad reasons is 100:1 but you are sad.
Now look at the other side today you woke up with a smile on your face you are feeling great today dont even know why reason can be anything you are off for your work on your way you face messy traffic, irritated & irritating people, but you still feel good because you are happy with yourself for that moment and you are not bothered whatever is going on outside you.So you are happy because you are happy.
So bottom line is true happiness can only come from true happy feelings, the reason for which can be anything & anyone it can be others or it can be you yourself.

Reality is subjective. Therefore, how we interpret the world really determines what happens to us. Basically, the same things, more or less, happen to everyone, but the quicker you can find the positive in any given situation the happier you'll be. So, true happiness has to come from within. We need other people to fit into our happiness-to interact with us, challenge us, and help us grow, but we can not rely on others' opinions or actions to make us happy.

I believe that true happiness has to come from within, however people can affect our state of happiness for a time. If you rely on others to make you happy, I think you will find a lot of disappointment. Others can bring us happiness for a while but true happiness and contentment must be found inside of yourself.

In order to be happy with others, a person first must be happy within. Happiness should be experienced within. Many people are very happy and have little or no happiness with others. To rely on others for happiness is to try and take from them something which is not rightfully yours. To share happiness with others is healthy and many choose to do so. But true happiness comes from within.

Happiness is what is in your heart. I believe love and happiness is in everyone's heart. If you have family, then yes, true happiness is in all their hearts. It may not be the case for a lot of people, sadly, but the majority would agree. Love to me is being there for the people I know and love. There is a certain 'love' that I feel for the persons who do not have this. To me, this is how I interprete love.

True happiness comes from within and comes from a lover. Everyday, you are surrounded by person type X, person type Y and person type Z. You might be worlds apart from X, disagree with Y's attitude and want to talk to Z. This is a typical social scenario at the workplace and your happiness must come from within and from what you truly believe in.

Happiness, ultimately, is an emotion and psychological state that eminates from within you (just as others: hate, jealousy, excitment, etc.). Others as well as non-human environmental factors can present conditions upon which we may react with happiness, anger, fear, etc. but you are the OWNER of the feeling. You must choose how to respond to outside forces. This was the great thesis and entire point of Victor Frankl's book "Man's Search for Meaning" (a must read if you are serious about your question). Another great book on this topic is Dennis Prager's, "Happiness is a Serious Problem".
Ultimately we can only change and control one person: yourself! Too many try and change their spouse, their children, their friends... we are to love them and then, ironically, they change themselves (often as a result of the freedom and acceptance they feel because of our love). Sounds somewhat esoteric, I know, but it is the truth.

True happiness is totally independent of others. No one can make you feel any way that you don't let them. I believe Eleanor Roosevelt said that. I think that this is a great question cause it also depends on what makes you truly happy. so for some people they would have to rely on others. Does that make any sense?

True happiness depends on the person. I find happiness in a clean home, my children playing nicely together, and energy! When all three are in effect, I find myself so at peace and thinking I wish all moments could be like this!! I know it sounds corny but its the truth. So I don't really think true happiness comes solely from one place or another or one person or another. We have 5 senses...they all have to be pleased, if you will, or at ease in order to feel euphoria.

It's a bit of both. Nature vs. nurture.

We don't always realize how environment and external situations influence us, so the state of your life can influence your happiness. But how you feel on the inside counts too. That's why some rich people aren't happy, and impoverished people that have a laid-back and an optimistic personality aren't happy either.
