Japan has utra strict gun control. The death rate from guns is miniscule. Nobody has guns but the police. Get the connection?
Are the Japanese better at logic than us?
Japanese logic; Less guns = less gun violence and deaths.
US logic; more guns = less gun violence and deaths.

Hey walterdisney; you switched the order of your statements. Typical con flip-flopping. This is the statement I agree with; "If they don't have guns...of course the death rate from GUNS is going to be miniscule!" Bravo!

The Japanese are smarter than us on many levels.....for example, they have learned their lesson about the insanity of nuclear power, and therefore do not pursue militarism at the expense of all other benefits to citizens, and overall progress of the country.

I'm surprised that you didn't mention England or Australia. They are really strict on guns as well. Oh, thats right their gun deaths are increasing just like Japans only faster. Japan has a culture of exceptance. You may not like this but it is true. The US has a culture of rugged individualism and self defense. Japan has the idea of the samuri dealing out justice while the unarmed villager stands by. Think this is funny... The Japanese still followed this code (Bushido) up until World War II.
A little research later; the violent death rate in Japan is almost as high as the United States and we have twice the population. You are full of it you know. Check out the facts.

Simplistic logic what gun control people love. Switzerland has more guns per capita than any place on earth. They have also been neutral for a very long time.
Japan has a very strong mafia. The mafia in some ways is like a 2nd police department without rules that govern their enforcement levels.
Japans culture is different. Should we also talk about there feelings about education? Should we talk about their additude about entitlements & work ethics?
All these item go into the discussion. Quick fixs are rarely fully thought out!

For Centuries it was illegal for common folk to have weapons in Japan. So there is no tradition of gun violence. However if you look at modern Japan the number of privately held huns has gone up thousands of percent as ha gun crime. If you want the basis for American Gun Ownership look to general Bugoyne's addresses to the English Parliment. It was key to the British realization that they could never govern America because of the population being armed.
If you are looking for logic. The Bill of Rights is premised on
"The Congress shall make NO LAW" which means our inalienable rights are outside of Congresses Ability to Legislate. So any law that infringes on Gun Ownership also infringes on Speech, Religion, the Press, Right of Assembly etc etc.
Throw out one the whole Bill of Rights becomes the Bill of Suggestions

Very different situation.
Japan has historically had a very repressed and oppressed population that was not allowed to own weapons. They have been subjects of emperors and warlords. They had no concept of freedom. They had no wilderness or nearby enemies, as the US had with the Indians, Canadians and Mexicans, and even Britain. The average Japanese was isolated from the outside world. Plus they culturally had a belief in their emperors as dieties. Plus a very homogenous population.
Of course, the Japanese had no problem slaughtering non-Japanese (Rape of Nanking) or of using them terribly, such as their forcing Korean women to pleasure their troops.
The US was a free country where gun ownership was not only allowed, but very essential in many areas. The ability of the revolutionaries to wage war against the British was based on the fact that so many men had their own weapons, because they were also part of the militia to protect against Indians and others.
All in all, it is an illogical comparison because of so many vast differences between the US and Japan.

And don't forget dogs. Dogs cannot be criminals, yet there was a dog that shot his master and was never arrested because dogs cannot be arrested for a crime.
If you ban guns, only dogs will have guns.
What about the police, if you ban guns, only the criminal police will have guns.
What about the military, shall we limit them to paintball markers if we ban guns?

The right to bear arms is not only for personal protection, its also for combating tyranny that comes from your government. Keep in mind that cataclysmic events happen on earth supervolcanos, viruses, space chunks, these events do happen and when it does, you need only look at our local, state, and federal response to Katrina that hung out in the Gulf for a week. A fire-arm is a tool for survival, I do think some people are a little to enamored with fire-power though. Tim Allen might say aohhh, aohhh, aohh.

The presence of one exception to a rule doesn't diminish the degree to which it is true in other countries. In the UK they eliminated guns and crime skyrocketed. In Switzerland they have guns everywhere and very little crime. There are lots of other examples.

The Japanese have a lot more severe penalties for law infractions than we do. Also, they still have a form of the Bushido Code where they concern themselves with honor. Here, there is no honor among thieves or other criminals.

They are a ralatively small island country with a homogenous, well to do poulation that has no need of guns for hunting (no animals left?) or defense (Island), In other words if America was the size of california, only had a demographic made up of upper middle class white folk, had no risk of invasion, little drug use, little of illegal smuggling and was entirely urbanized, then we would have very little gun crime as well, simply because very few people would bother to buy guns.
