All the cells in the body are replaced every seven years, some quicker. Our mind is also always changing. We don't need to identify with any temporal labels. We are eternal yet eternally recreating ourselves physically, emotionally, vitally, mentally and spiritually. We are forever young while being ancient. We've got to leave our bodies sometime otherwise birth would mean overpopulation. Death is birth and so is life when we are continually reborn. If our attitude is young and fresh, so our experiences will be. If we are open like a child we receive all we need to thrive. We also need wisdom which usually comes with experience. If we face our experiences with fresh eyes untainted by prejudice, then our minds won't be given an imbalanced view of things. If your eye is single then your whole mind will be full of light.

or what? If you had a choice between being mortal and immortal for the most part I bet you would desire immortality. The chance to see it all, to do everything you would ever desire and more. To always be like you are just now. And for a while that would be cool. But immortality is a curse of its own accord as mortality is. In mortality you will always know that time is short and that there are more important things you may need or want to do asap. In immortality you will always know that theres plenty of time and that you may or may not do something anyway. But also in immortality you would be alone even if there was others like yourself you will be alone. You will watch family, friends, strangers you met as kids and now they're elderly all of them will eventually die off. And thats not all the human mind is incapable of handling the experiences of longevity of such length after so long even the strongest willed person will break under the pressure of such countless time and experiece and in immortality you cannot die so over time the torture of just existing so long will not end unless you find a way for it to end. In many ways the short, fragile, ever changing existence of mortality is a sweet existence that is truly cherished even by the most dour of people. Mortality is a gift with a cost that may also be a gift in its own perverse way.

I think that even if the body can somehow be made immune to aging, the mind can not be kept young forever, because the mind must change with experiences gained. Well, in that case, I won't like to have an old mind burdened with a young body rearing to go all the time... the mismatch would perhaps drive one mad, literally!!
Good question... Star!!

It would be, if only the best people could live the longest.
But then you will be looking at an elite dominating the whole world. Who would have the power to choose who would have the gift? Of course it would come down to who has the most wealth.
Obviously, unless we cut down the world population by about 80% and make everyone sterile, longevity like that would not work. Even then, would you want murderers and rapists to be in this world?

It is possible to remain forever young, youth is in the brain not in appearance.

THAT wouldn't be practical. Life is a gift we should enjoy and follow through the years. Experiencing all it has to offer. If we were young forever, what changes would we see? No joy of parenthood....no joy of adventure......no chance to experience aging....Which is not so bad.....you just need to take life one day at a time...Let it happen. As it DOES to ALL living things..

It really depends what you view as "young"

Life is about experience right? Living..dieing and doing all the things in between.

When you've "passed away" your closing a door, and making way for another one to open..

For me, to sit there in my rocking chair with a walking stick at my side in 70 years time..Its like the end of the race or an obstacle course! I've achieved something..I have survived and faced all the hurdles life has thrown at me...& become a stronger person!

Regards of me :-)
take care!

With age you gain experience. Whether it's experience from just being around longer than most, or whether it's experience you learn just from aging, the older you get, the wiser you generally are. If we were all young, chances are, we'd all be young and stupid. I'm sure anyone can sit there and say "Teen and kids are dumb."

Besides that, without natural death, we'd be far more over-populated than we already are. As it is, as you age and your organs begin to fail, we have machines and outside life forces keeping them alive when they'd otherwise die. It's nice to see a family member live longer than they were expected to, but when it's written down.. we need more people to die.

It's the vicious circle of life.

Dear that every ones prime wish. For remaining younger would have lead to energetic life throughout enjoying all the pleasures without the physical and mental sufferings that come with age.
It would be definitely good but of course death cannot be escaped.

No it would be crap. I am 12 years old and I wanna get layed, get drunk, get stoned and be a complete git ! If I were this age forever I would kill myself, then I would be forever dead and thats no good either. No I wanna grow up it's my right and I demand it. So there. If you don't let me I'm gonna tell my Dad, and he's a lawyer and he will sue!
So leave me alone it's my life I can do what I want with it. Gotta go Mum's calling me for tea.
