Join a group of some sort. Your local council, leisure centre, adult education centre, community hall, church all will have different groups going on. Get a job, youll meet loads of new people. Buy a dog, a walk in the park can be a surprising, yet often social hobby. Maybe find an online chat group near your area. Overall, be yourself. Act confident and you will feel confident, in turn drawing people to you. After all, who would be more approachable: the guy sat quietly on his own in the corner, looking sullen amd miserable or the guy stood in the middle of the room, smiling at people and starting conversations?

First thing would be to not focus on the friends part. You should find out what it is that catches your interest and pursue it. You should view this as a good thing. Most people have friends they don't really like to begin with. They are mostly friends from school that they have grown accustomed to. You have the opportunity to bring like minded individuals into your life and start your own circle of friends. Focus on yourself and involve yourself in activities that relate to you. i.e. book clubs, political parties, pool clubs,etc... Go to meetup.com and see what you like! Good luck!

Me too hun. I used to have a social life before i got involved. Now the furthest i go is Tesco!! I know for a fact that this has contributed to depression and insecurity. Believe me, if you want to talk as friends then i'm all up for it.

Since friends won't come to you, go out to meet people. Join volunteer groups, sports clubs, book clubs, gaming clubs, or even the gym. It takes time to cultivate friends; just develop your own interests and find people who share those interests.

I don't either but it was of my choosing. If it not what you want you are the one to change it. You have to find a place to meet people who share your beliefs or do the same things. What I mean gardening , art, writing or almost anything.
