What are some essential 4th of July foods?

Any cold picnic salads,such as, potato salad, macaroni salad, fruit salad, hot dogs, hamburgers, watermelon. Cold drinks, such as, lemonade, ice tea, cold, cold beer,spritzers. OOOH, sounds so good. Where's the party!

Of course hotdogs, hamburgers and other things that can be cooked on the grill. But to get fancy, my family always has strawberries (red), blueberries (blue), and and cool whip in cups in layers. A really colorful and festive treat!

I am from the Southwest (Texas) and my family is from there and the Deep South mostly and this is what we do and eat.

We also do this on Juneteenth (June 19th, Emancipation Day) along with some other specific foods.

We all go to the country and everything is freshly killed, picked, and made.
