The word fart is itself imitative of the sound, the origional Indo-European form was perd or pezd. Hmmm, guess those old Indo-Europeans didn't have taco bell.

I don't know but it would be an onomatopoeia - the formation of a word, as cuckoo or boom, by imitation of a sound made by or associated with its referent. ~ Have a great day courtesy of Jesus.
