It sounds like a transmission problem you need to have it looked at by a mechanic . I would not take any chances by driving it . good luck.

I had that happen to me once, I had a leak in the hydrolics that control the gear shift. I think it was a boot of some sort. Pretty inexpensive to repair, maybe 100 dollars.

There is a container you fill with break fluid under the hood, relatively small. Its for the shifter. I forget what its labeled. If its empty fill it with brake fluid and it should work temporarily until you take it in.

Try having someone rock the car forward and backward while you try to move the gear lever out of park. Be careful to have your foot on the brake and not run the person over!

its proly a switch that wont allow it to go in gear unless the brake is depressed, it works the same way as a brake light. when the brake is pressed a button is released and the brakes come on. that same type of switch is probably bad not allowing the car to go in gear. it happened on my civic

--good luck

most likely it will be a gearox problem i.e. transmission. they can be quite expensive to fix so look around for the best price.
find out from various dealers first as to what the exact problem is... as mechnics nowadays do give different diagnosis JUST TO MAKE MONEY!!! so best look around.
