That is a very plausible explanation for the brazen testimony coming from this administration when brought before Congress:
"I don't know."
"I don't remember."

For all of their incompetencies in government - they seem to be very competent in coverup.

In all likelihood Libby lied to protect his boss and Karl Rove. It will never be known for sure unless someone else talks. And if true, it is unknown if he did it of his own initiative or was directed to do so by Cheney.

I love how some folks go on and on about the 'non-crime' and 'mis-remembering' events that were 'not a crime.'. But Libby was indicted, tried and convicted by a jury of his peers in a court of law. If the 'non-crime' camp were correct, then Libby had the most inept counsel that ever set foot in a courtroom. Somehow, I don't think so.

Most likely (of course the truth will not be known until it is time for historians to look into it).

Bush commutes a sentence as being too harsh - funny from a man who has fought so hard to pack prisons with drug addicts.

Just typical of this administration's complete disregard for the rule of law and willingness to rule by decree.
