yeh i use to say "coloured" because i thought "black" offended people. then i read a poem about it in school, so "blacks" fine, then heard the blackboard being banned. So now when im out, if i have to describe someone i leave the fact theyre black out of it all together, if i just said "the black james" theyd know who i was on about straight away, but now it just takes them ages to catch on!

if only a minority are offened ( 5% of whites, 5% of blacks for eg) why the hell do we all have to bother with it.90% of the population are tip toeing incase they offend someone.

The first time my wife visited this country she couldn't understsand what all the fuss was about.By the way she is black and will tell you that even though it is quite noticable. When our baby was born she had no problem as he got older reading from old nursury rhyme books to him and he is quite well adjusted and mixes freely with both black and every other coloured children. They have their arguments about who plays whith which toy etc but none of them are racist. If it were possible you could put 1000 children from different colours or creeds and left them without parents to grow in their own way there would be arguments that is inevitable but nothing bearing on racism.Racism comes from SUPOSEDLY educated ADULTS.Both me and my wife have suffered racism and racist comments from both BLACK AND WHITE.We ignore them as we are happy and the people giving us grief are sad little people with nothing better to do me and my wife have a life and we live it As you said 95 % are tiptoeing about in case of offending the 5% but the 5% can run with impunity and do as they please.Where once we had majority rule we now have minority rule but this is well in keeping with the PC brigade as they are in the minority but they rule.In most other countries it's called DICTATORSHIP here it called political correctness.

I truely believe that on this day before the 4th of July, Our Independence day!! The people of this country needs to stand up for their rights!! I never thought that I would see the day where we could not offend someone or call someone a name with legal and financial ramifications!! Unless, it is the Liberal Left doing the deed!! They seem to be the only ones who think they are above it all!! Stand up for yourself!! The last time I checked this is still the United States of America where freedom of speech is your RIGHT!! I think everyone in this country should re-read the constitution and the Bill of Rights and live them!! Fight with them!! or even die with them!! Thomas Jefferson said that every twenty years the people of this country should over throw the government because that is the only way to keep it uncorrupt!! Stand up and be heard!! PC or Not!! It's your right!!

It has gone mad. Very OTT and escalating if no one is policing the PC board of directors. The people on the losing end seems to be the "white" (pardon me) Brits. It's coming to a point to where I'm wondering if we are still in Britain or in one of those islamic or east european countries. Pardon me again.

A charity I worked for banned the use of the word 'lady' as in 'that lady has a problem with ...'. We had to use 'woman' instead, could never get to the bottom of why. Another was 'man the phones'. Why? No Christmas cards or decorations as a lot of our clients were homeless and it may not be a happy time for them.

You're so right! Everything is wrong nowadays . I have to think for a good 5 minutes before I know I can say something without offending someone of pissing someone off.. it's pathetic!! People piss me off all the time but they're not held accountable for it so why should I be!! DOWN WITH THE PC FUN POLICE!!!

Ok, I'm gonna be shot down in flames for this, but what the hell.

We now live in a country (UK) where everything that was previously descibed as 'black' (eg black board, black bags, baa baa black sheep) are now not allowed. It wasn't a racist thing, they were, and still are, black in colour, but anyway, in our counrty with a Christian majority, we aren't allowed to put up decorations to celebrate our religeous festival, we have to be so careful about what we say in case we offend sombody. But, who cares about offending the 'white' people? No one.
We have to put up with all this crap from people saying you can't do this and you can't say that, but when it comes down to it, we still have to put up with racist things, but of course it can't be racist cos it only offends the 'white' people, and apparently thats not racist.
I am so sick and tired of putting up with all this crap and I seriously wonder where it will all end.

its a chalk board.

there was an advert a few years ago for milk with the tag line "the white stuff" which is apparantly racist

A snowman should now be called a snowperson

Last christmas wasn't known as christmas in Southampton it was winterval because other religions might be insulted (exactly why i haven't quite worked out)

Thats all thats come to mind for now, i'm sure i'll think of some more

I think the biggest example always comes around the end of December when most religious holidays are held. You can't even tell people "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Hanukah" anymore. You have to say either "Happy Holidays" or "Seasons Greetings" now.

Loads of this stuff is just myth put about in the 1980s to discredit left-leaning Labour councils. Amongst them were the banning of. 'black bags' and 'blackboards'. All nonsense. But them some people believe that Mariah Carey really did say that she was envious of African children because they were thin............

Yes. Nowadays, you can't put a Christmas tree in certain spots because it is racist, but you must install foot washers for Muslims all over the place or you are a racist. And now, black racists are accepted, but white racists are screamed at and pointed at and everyone goes crazy. Racism is wrong, but political correctness is pathetic.
