What if I told you it's OK to feel whatever you are feeling, with whoever you are talking to? It is OK to be anxious, it is okay to be happy, it is okay to be sad. Just feel it, and you will know you are alive.

Learn to care about who you are. Confidence is a big turn on to many people. Just walk up and say Hi. Or whatever seems appropriate. There are a lot of self help books out there too, you can read or talk to a counselor, clergyman whatever you feel inclined toward.

i have this same problem, so i can deffinately understand how this has an impact on ur relationships with other people, im not sure there is a defining way you can become more confident, just realise that everyone is different and know that people care about what you have to say and who you are. alcohol always helps too

I can sit here at my keyboard and tell to do this or that but in the end only you can make it happen. Confidence is the belief in yourself, if you don't like yourself how can you expect others to. See there I go preaching my belief to others.

Talk to yourself first...Tell yourself that you have the confidence...Kill the old recluse you and embrace the new sociable you...it's all mental.
Write down shyness and timidness on paper and burn it...tell yourself you're the opposite.
