...seal the border "first"...(you can't save a "sinking" ship till you plug the leaks... pump out the invasive water and then set a course for a rapair-dock to get your ship refit'd)

Hey FedUp. You're 100% correct. I will state that I am a fan of our president because I feel he makes decisions that he feels are right. That said, I've never agreed with the "Guest Worker Program". The laws will not be followed nor enforced. They should have arrested Elvira Arellano a lot sooner but someone drug their feet until it was time for a show. The facts are that illegals, from whatever country, will continue to break our laws until they're afraid to. We simply cannot afford anymore - we can't afford the ones here. We must start deporting. I realize we will not get all of them, this is just reality. However we should go after as many as possible and quit punishing Border Patrol agents for doing their job. Additional: Recently I joked with a friend, who is originally from Mexico, and said that I was tired of the situation and that perhaps it was time for us (the U.S.) to take over Mexico. This friend is highly eduacated, has owned, run and sold successful businesses, and takes many trips to visit family in Mexico. That said, I was rather pleased with her response. She said that she thought it was actually a good idea and that the Mexican population would welcome it. The reason is that the U.S., although flawed (I realize we're not perfect), is a great country that is well run. Imagine fixing Mexico so that people actually want to stay there and being able to combine resources? Mexico has, among others, oil and a population that can contribute if given the tools. I believe that the seperation between the haves and have nots would be greatly reduced. Hmm, what would those crazies over at Mecha / Atzlan think of this?

Excellent question. What's wrong with most of these politicians is that they're spineless. Believe me, had this new immigration bill went into law, it would have NEVER been enforced. These pandering, wimps in Washington can't even enforce the ones ALREADY on the books. After five years or so of no action, they would have said, "Well, now there's 50 million "undocumented immigrants" in this country. We can't just send 50 million people back across the border." And here comes Amnesty part II, only this time it's not 12 million (the real number is actually closer to 25 million) no, now you've got 50 million "immigrants" DEMANDING citizenship. And this type of pressure will get Washington to fall like a house of cards.
Bunch of worthless, spineless, wimps.

They can enforce current, and past laws to get the job done. What they didn't expect was such a backlash from the American peoples voices. So if they sit around and do nothing, (Blackmailing Americans) then they will get what they want eventually. Passing another law that they will do nothing about for another 20 years. We just need to keep on them, and after them by kicking out the ones who wanted the new reform. And replacing with those who have America, and Americans best interest at heart.
Also this new reform was to give amnesty to the businesses who hire the illegals. Another thing they have been doing for years, and years. It was also to speed up the SPP that Bush so badly wants for his North American Union.

That's a great question. Let's secure the border first - it's a matter of national security at this point. Then we can worry about what to do with the illegals in this country. Maybe amnesty is the answer, I don't know, but I really don't care until we solve the problem of how many illegals are pouring across the border. Why is that so hard to understand? I love those that say we can't build a wall it's too inpractical. How many thousands of years ago was it when the Chinese built one?

They are whining and wringing their hands because they were opposed by the people. Some in power want a North American Union. They attempted to tie shamnesty to securing the border as a blackmail attempt to scare people into endorsing the bill, to the benefit of the corporate elite.
Tancredo opposes amnesty and is pro-securing the border.
Thompson who hasn't announced is vocal about securing the border, but hasn't committed to no form of amnesty. It's hard to separate the truth from campaign statements for some just say what they think voters want to hear. Tancredo's record backs up his words. Unfortunately, he doesn't get the media attention or financial backing needed to win these days.
If the election was tomorrow, I think I'd write in DAR or Dr. Doom.

They are scared of the Liberal Bias` News` Media ! The liberals want more people in the country that will be dependent upon Government for living assistance , so at election time they can point out the fact that they are the ones` who stood up for their "rights" ( that don`t exist ) , and got them into the country, and 20 million votes will win a lot of elections ! This goes hand in hand with the Liberal Bias` News Media who are in bed with these left-winger politicians that don`t cover all the obvious shortcomings of any Illegal Amnesty Bill , because the Liberal media wants a share of the power that comes with being supportive of the party that is power . Since the Liberal Bias` Media is never called upon by the Liberal politicians to prove or provide facts on anything they put in print , this fits the Liberal politicians agenda as they can depend on their liberal bias` media to cover them on all issues and take their opposition to task with scathing bad press !! A good example of this was on FOX News today with the "press" going berserk over the "Libby" issue ! The liberal press went after Tony Snow like a pack of wild dogs with questions . They are furious that Libby is not going to jail ! My point being is that most of the so-called journalist in that room today , were the same one`s in the "media" , when Bill Clinton pardoned over 550 felons , drug dealers , and even some terrorist ! This was not even brought up or mentioned in the Liberal Bias` Media then , and it will never be ! Where was all their Outrage back then which included far worse "pardons" than Libby`s ; this was Liberal Bias` to the MAX !!!.Where`s their outrage on Cintons` boy "Sandy Berger" stealing top secret documents from The National Archives ?? Where`s their out rage with the Congressman from Louisiana , with $90,000 in cash hidden in his freezer ? If the liberals want to have some investigations , start with these two cases ?? So what any member of Congress needs to understand is the fact that the majority of The Real LEGAL American Taxpayers know what is going on in the Liberal Bias` Media , and we don`t pay any attention to them . So go ahead all you politicians that are supported by 84% of your citizens , go ahead make our day ; Stand up for the USA , we`ve got your back !!

We have no control of the Border. It is patrolled by Mexican Gangs armed with AK-47s that they bought here. The Bush Administrations answer is to award No Bid Contracts to thier buddies for gadgetry while sending Border Patrol Agents to Iraq.
I could care less about some Mexicans working here, at least they are working. The United States Government has no control of it's borders.

We have had laws for many years on this issue. Problem is the judges would not enforce the laws. Seems like the judicial branch is trying to give government its own twist, by deciding what will and won't be enforced.
When cornered on why they do this the excuse is interpretation.
Now when cities have had enough, and they pass anti immigrant statutes, they get blasted.
Every Hispanic group cries discrimination and they find a judge to block for them

They just refuse to even try to enforce the laws. There are so many illegals in the country that the job seems insurmountable. Most politicians don't have the guts to take up this challenge.
