Do you believe it was right for President Bush to essentially pardon him? What effect (if any) will this have on the Bush administration? Does this change your opinion of government?

I see it as an abuse of power, and justice not being served. I haven't had the greatest opinion of our government for a long time, so I just pray for our leaders, know God is ultimately in control, and know that I know the end of the story.

It probably won't have much of an effect on the Bush administration since it is a lame duck administration anyway. It will probably have an effect on the Republicans in the elections next year, however.
I think it just goes to show how corrupt our government is. While I can see why in some cases a pardon or commuted sentence might be a good idea, it should be illegal for a President to pardon or commute the sentence of someone who once worked in the executive branch.

No, I don't Think it was Appropriate, for him to Pardon him, I Agree With you, that this is Effectively a Pardon, Although Technically a Commutation to Zero Jail Time, About the Government, Yes, but I Have Had a Low Opinion of Bureaucracies In General, Not Just the State, for a Long Time. The "Rule of Law" is for Other people. "Equal Justice Under Law"- a Nice Fantasy.

I for one think that it was the right thing to do. The sentence was rather harsh and I feel justice has been served. Libby has a $250,000 fine, probation and will lose his law license. Hilliary was in the same exact mess and the prosecutor declined to prosecute. I have a problem with all the people bashing Bush for this. I wondered if those screaming about this jumped up and down when the prosecutor declined to prosecute Hilliary Clinton for the same exact thing? Speaking of Clinton, I dare them to look up Bill Clinton's long list of pardons and then compare them to Bush's list of pardons. Did they scream and cry when Clinton pardoned all those people? Did they say anything when Clinton received money for his pardons? All I am saying is this, if you want to complain about what Bush did, fine, but you needed to complain about what the Clintons did. I'm sure the thumbs down will be flowing my way for this. It is sad that people get so caught up in their hate and forget the sins of other presidents that they gave a pass to. I am all for taking it away from all of them. Until we all complain evenly when this happens, it will continue to happen. As to effecting the Bush administration, it is an unpopular lame duck. It won't hurt it at all. The short attention span of the country will have forgotten this by election time. My opinion of government is the same as it always has been. We need change on both sides of the asile. We need a viable 3rd party, massive campaing finance reform and term limits.

It's true that the sentence was harsh for the charges, but that happens all the time and you don't see presidents commuting sentences all over the place.

Libby was just the fall guy, and was targeted as an example so I'm not sad to see him get off, but it also goes to show that the Bush Administration obviously doesn't have much use for the Judicial Branch or other bothersome things such as laws.

The Bush administration poll numbers are so low that it will have little effect on the administration. It will however have a devastating effect on the republican party as it appears that they believe the republicans are above the law and that will hurt them in the 2008 election.

Dick Cheney told scooter libby that Ms. Plame was a CIA operative... then he told him to leak that info to the press in order to put her in danger.... That is why Haliburton just announced that they are moving their headquarters to the middle east... Cheney is running for the hills now that Libby was found guilty... What I want to know is - how can haliburton just arbitrarily decide to move to the middle east while they still have our government contracts and tax money that Bush gave them... Isn't that what we call a "real threat to National Security"? ...or at least treason?

No, it was not OK. It means that Bush is a total lame duck and has no hope of good relations with Congress or the public.

Either that, or he was helping with the cover-up.
