Do you find it easier to come out after a High Profile Celeb comes out? I Mean...Like when Ellen, Rosie, T.L. Knight, Lance Bass, Doogie(can't think of his real Name..LOL) came out...Did it make it easier for you?

Did societies acceptance of them help?

Thanks for all and any answers!!!

None of them coming out helped me come out in anyway. I think Ellen was the only one off of this list to come out before me and nothing changed because of it. I mean it made me smile as she did and the others came out. I'm happy for them and I'm glad society accepts them. I think that helps us all, that society still loves them. :)

You're think of Neil Partick Harris.

What acceptance?

Ellen and Rosie just happen to be lucky. But when Ellen came out her TV show ended. If she didn't happen to be a good talk show host she would be out of work. Rosie is a good talker but how many movie/TV roles has she gotten after she came out?

In general when a celebrity comes out it is literally a death sentence for their careers.

Example: George Michael. He was at the top of the charts until he was caught in a men's room and outed. The result - his popularity took a nose dive. Women no longer saw him as a sex symbol.

And speaking of Neil. Right now he is playing a womanizer on "How I Met Your Mother"on TV. Once that show ends how many acting jobs will he get playing a straight guy?? Probably few or none.

Richard Chamberlain and George Takai are at the end of their careers so their coming out isn't affecting them.

No, society is still negative towards gays. It is easier for Celebes to come out because they are exposed and sort of untouchable. They are established and successful, but "turning" gay can hurt their carriers- they may not get a particular role...
I hate to bring up Ricky Martin, but where the hell is he now?

For everyday people like us, climbing a corporate pyramid is not easy for gays; you may not be accepted to inner circle, the country club, unless you are there already there….

For some reason, I do like it when high profile people come out. Not that it validates me in anyway, but I think its speaks volumes to homophobic masses.

..and it always makes me smile when a hot young actress isnt ashamed of being attracted to the same sex. Portia d Rossi was a good one.

Still haven;t come out, but the more celebrities that do, it makes it a little easier for others to relate to your story

I don't think it really affected me personally, but I do think that it helped everyone see that anyone can be gay and that we are just regular people.
