It is only dangerous if you are not on a healthy diet of good food. You can reduce the number of calories you ingest as long as what you were eating was way more than you needed. That baby will use up calcium from your body so make sure you still drink milk and eat cheese with your meals.

You should never diet when pregnant. There is a difference between watching what you eat and eating nothing at all. Remember, what you eat nourishes the baby. If you diet, the baby does not get proper nutrition and therefore will either have health problems after birth, or will grow at a slower rate (which will affect all major organ growth as well). And no, the child will NOT feed off of you and you will lose weight quicker. To be honest, you are pregnant, your weight is only going to keep going up, no matter how little you eat. You have a child growing inside of you. Eat fruits and veggies and lean meats. Eat when you are hungry, but don't overdo it. If you want a healthy child, don't be so selfish to think of your own shape. You will have plenty of time after the baby is born to get your shape back.

It can damage your teeth, internal organs, and many other things. Eat healthy and don't overindulge. You need about 300-500 more calories a day then you did before you got pregnant. Try that and don't do the chocolate and such thing. If you are overweight then you only need to gain about 25 pounds. It will come off much easier and it will be much better for you and the baby. I hate to say this, but maybe you should have thought about your weight before you got pregnant. Now you need to do what is in the best interest of your child!

If, by diet, you mean eliminating empty calories and fatty foods, it's certainly not dangerous. Actually, it will be helpful to the baby. But if you mean doing without nutritious food so you won't gain much weight, then it's dangerous. Actually, you should speak with your doctor to determine which foods and how much you should eat in order to give birth to a healthy baby while staying healthy yourself. You're going to need a lot of energy once the baby is born.

NO, that's the dumbest and most selfish thing I've heard.... You are pregnant and "dieting" really shouldn't be a priority, eating right, staying healthy should be... So, take your vitamins and drink plenty of milk/juice and water and stop being so self absorbed... There's more to life than worrying about what YOU look like.. Worry about the life inside of you that needs nourishment....

its dangerous to do any crazy diet while youre pregnant like atkins or something like that that cuts out a whole food group, bc you need to make sure you and your baby are getting all the nutrition you need, but that being said, pregnancy is a good time to eat healthy, cut out junk food and add more fruits and veggies stuff like that, i actually lost 12 lbs while i was pregnant bc i was overweight and i just started eating a little healthier and like you said the baby basically takes everything youre eating so... but dont go on any crash diets or anything like that!

No you shouldn't diet. When dieting you consume less calories, and when pregnant you should consume about 300 more calories a day. Just eat healthy foods to make up those extra calories.

no doctor who wants to keep a license to practice medicine will advise you to diet while pregnant. the baby needs all the nutrients & building blocks he or she can get.

once the baby is born, THEN you can diet.

the answer is YES, it's dangerous to the baby for you to diet.
