The answer to your question is right there in your own wording - 'impose democracy'. The first problem is that it is not 'democracy' that America is really aiming for. The second problem is that 'impose' is exactly what America does - and imposing is not a good thing.
America tries to impose its own values and customs on other countries. Maybe that would be acceptable IF the American Government was genuinely altruistic, but its reasons for such impositions are materialistic, manipulative and self-serving -- securing oil supplies, maintaining a USA-weighted world economic balance, or increasing its political power with a view to world domination.
Not every country in the world subscribes to the capitalistic grab race that America wraps up in the thin disguise of democracy. America treads all over smaller countries in its efforts to remain King of the Heap, gobbling up their resources, and invading, killing, raping, destabilising, arming and financing whomever is expedient to its purposes. Its motives are dishonest and its methods dishonourable. No wonder the victims of its aggression see Americans as greedy arrogant hypocritical bullies.

this is a good question
as a canadian, i love america. The people are nice, the beer is cheep, and there is always something fun to do.
I think people just love to whine about things but in fact have no better solution. American government makes mistakes, but at least they try to make the world a better place.
People who blame america for their problems clearly have insecurity issues and need someone to blame for their mistakes. Ok, the world is tough, so go and make the best of it.

Well right now our leadership sucks, it's not the country itself. Most people hate Bush. We need to elect better leaders who will keep us out of trouble. I think it is good to be nosy if others are suffering in the world. People still want our money either way, but they don't want us to come along with it. It's like a bank, they are going to hound you once they loan you money.

Because we are the bully, trying to push our way of thinking onto others. A true leader does not force you to follow but leads by showing you the way. Like the old saying you can lead a horse to water but can't make him drink. At this moment in time we think we are God's gift to mankind.

Because the U.S. federal government can't keep it's nose out of other peoples business, which makes it hard on all of us. I don't think that people actually hate people, they hate governments! I don't hate any people but I sure hate most governments!

because sadly I admit America is a very nosy country.
they put their nose where it dont belong, and fight battles that have nothing to do with them.
aside from that people also love to live in America because you have a ton of opportunity, resources, and more.
catch 22, dont you think?
