If it is a new recipe I tend to be more careful with measurements, but if it is something that I make often I usually just guess at it. Often after making a recipe I will increase or decrease a non-essential ingredient to my or my family's personal taste.

I sometimes estimate. Depends on how often I've cooked the particular food or how much I have of another ingredient it has to mix with.

the main is thing is to have fun.and not competition...trial and error of estimating ingredients when cooking and the more practice, the better it will turn out.

I am an official member of the "Pinch of This, Handful of That Crowd." Never had much use for recipes, unless is was something special that was requested.
