500 cubic inch not HP unless heavily modified. Caddy engine from the old smog days may of had 300 hp. You will not be able to get replacement parts price a gasket set or intake manidold. That motor also weighs a ton. My reccomendation is do this to a sedan. Hot rod trucks don't have enough rear weight to get power to the ground with out major suspension work. Chevy and many aftermarket Crate motors will be a better choice They will bolt right up put a 750 carb on it and make 500 hp.

I can t believe the idiot answers on here.
Yes, a Caddy 500 will fit in a Chevy truck easily, I ve done several. They weigh LESS than the 454 Chevy motors you could get in these trucks from the factory.
The transmission will not hit the floorboards, it stays exactly where it was. You can swap the trans for a Buick/Olds/Pontiac style TH400 or keep your Chevy TH 400 and use an adapter plate. Only the top two bolts are in a different place.
You can swap the stock Chevy motor mounts left-for-right, drill new holes in the crossmember, and bolt it in. You ll need a Caddy 425 oil pan and pickup tube. There are two holes the dipstick tube can go in, you ll need to move it to the other hole to use the 425 pan. You ll have to trim a little bracing off the firewall on the driver s side of the motor to clear the cylinder head.
It doesn t make insane amounts of power but it is very torquey and works great in a truck.

Cadillac 500 Engine

The answer is yes, http://www.cadillacperformanceparts.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=1&Itemid=43
The Big Block Cadillac engine is MUCH less heavy than the big block Chevy and with aluminum heads only 65# more than a Chevy SMALL BLOCK.
While true the Cadillac were no huge HP Engines, they did produce UNBLEIVEABE TORQUE and are popular conversions for many off road jeeps and more due to cheap cost and low weight.
Above is only ONE source for parts on this engine. An again, the engine you are talking about is 500 cubic inches and around 500 '# of torque.
Good Luck.........Send pictures

500 Cadillac

Yes, a 500ci caddy does fit in a checy pickup. We've done it.

Be careful about what is legal, or you may end up with something you can't license. The swap we did was from a '76 Caddy to a '78 pickup.

Grab the tranny and change the drivetrain as a whole. You may need to fabricate a driveshaft, so grab the yoke from the Caddy.

Bubba, you can pack whatever you want in there. Trick is to match the transmission (of your choice) to the engine. Well, then there's the engine mounts. And the radiator hose mounting. And whether the radiator will handle that bigaxx motor. And whether the front suspension is still any good, to be able to manage the extra weight.
Oh, and the custom exhaust you'll have to make.
But yeah, you can do it. Time and money. Time and money.

I don't think it would those trucks are usally six cylinder motros and an eight is not going to fit. try finding a motor the same size for it in a junk yard, depending on how old it is.

Yes it will. It's not a 500 hp though It's a 500C.I. But it's still a bad *** motor. It's just a big block conversion.

It may take some motor mount re locating, and verify the transmission won't hit the floor boards or firewall.
Mitchell manuals at your local library can tell you what it would take to do that sort of swap.

Anything can be done if your a welder however.
