Actually later marriages are more of a common trend today. Not only because personal success is sought after more than love, but because we are a generation who experienced widespread divorce at an early age. We are more cautious and realistic about a lifelong commitment.
I found this interesting article that agrees.

Possibly because they haven't got the maturity to bring-up

children; And...........while we are on the subject, who thinks
that(both republican and democrat) governments should be
ashamed-of-themselves for not so-called leading this
population to a managable population,- with a decent and
sensible law that limits the amount of children in a family
and also places a limit on when a couple can start a family
(say,23 or 25 years of age).
For this would virtually stop immigration at a stroke;AND,within a small time this country will restart to
become the great nation that showed so much promise.
Sorry for not-mincing-my-words(being bold and risking
it);
Obviously there was a time in the past-when the population
was lower-when "hands" and workers were in short supply
and thus needed here. But do you think this still applies?
(poss in Parts-of-the-country only).
Surely this "makes sense"?
And with the above, surely we'd have less divorces, less abuse, and less child poverty?

No. The age at which people get married gets later as people decide to pursue higher education and careers before deciding to get married.
