Hi,

TFT is popular b'coz of it's new tecnology and also for the clarity of image.

Likewise CRT, TFT also has all the features to adjust the screen and also for the pixels.

You can go for TFT 17", I also uses the same..

Have a wonderful day ahead!

Because it's so much lighter than a CRT. For instance a 20" CRT monitor is really heavy and some are beyond 'safe' limits for 1 man. A 20" TFT monitor can be held in 1 hand.

Because it's so much shallower than CRT... a CRT monitor is over 30cm/1foot deep and a TFT is a few inches/centimetres. More desk space in front of the monitor or less overhang backwards.

Because it's so much better than DSTN... so much better that DSTN is dead as a technology

Because OLED is just so horribly expensive compared to TFT (for the moment).

Because that's what the shops sell now... they sell for more so they make more profit, but you can get so many more into a shelf in the warehouse / a pallet on the truck.

A CRT is basically a cube, slightly smaller than the screen size (because that is a diagonal measurement). So a 22" CRT is going to be about 20" wide and 20" deep. And will be around the 45 - 55 lbs mark.

A flat panel will be about the same width, slightly narrower, 6" deep and about the 15 lbs mark.

Also they are cool, so people want them. They are more expensive than CRTs especially at small sizes but not so much that they are unaffordable.

No focus geometry or distortion problems, no high voltage regulation problems. Colour range is a bit more limited and they only look best at the native resolution.

One of the less obvious reasons is that monitor manufacturers make virtually no profit on a CRT. But there is still a nice profit in LCDs.

Size is still the main reason though (IMHO)

The main reason is that a TFT monitor takes up way much less space as there is no tube on the back that sticks out. TFT monitors can be hung from the wall freeing up desktop space and such and the image quality is much better as well.

Hope this answers your question Good luck
