Does anyone know how to make fish flake foods for tropical fish? I'm really interested in making some rather than buying the flake food

Thank you!

You can but.....

It's difficult to get a flake food thinness at home, they usually end up rather thick (compared to flakes) and harder than commerical flakes.

Also, it's difficult to get the nutritional balance that you can find in commercial flakes without spending a small fortune.

All in all, generally speaking you are better off just buying the flakes and spending your time raising live foods to add to the fishes diet.

this is not fish flakes but just food for fish i learned this from a fish show champion winner in UK. ok 1/4 of a tublerful of powdered cod,3/4 powdered shrimp, 3 teaspoon of wholewheat flour, one teaspoon of Epsom salt,3 teaspoon of baking powder,3 teaspoons of powdered precipitated chalk all should be be well mixed and kneaded into a dough, with two raw eggs and water, baked into the oven, cooled and cut into thin slices, thoroughly dried and cut into suitable pieces... this food is perfect because it enhances the color of the fish as well as its endurance againts diseases....
