hi my name is luke and im 14 .I usually watch most haunted on foxtell (i live in australia) but i cant aford all of the top notch ghost hunting gear like do you even nead all that stuff ?. what gear do i nead if i want to start off in ghost hunting like basics it helps because i think my house is haunted and my dad likes watching that stuff on tv so if anyone knows any good first time sites in brisbane australia then plz tell me thanks luke

First off Luke you need to put the word out that you want to Join an Experienced Paranormal Group and that this is a first for you. Trust me once the word gets out you'll find that group.
We have someone coming from Austrailia to work with our group for 3 months and then go back and start a group over there. We have someone from Romania that has recently joined our group. She was born just outside of Transylvania and she wants to get a group over there started as well. I have taken her on 2 investigations this past week and watched her closely and she really has a gift for this and such a strong desire.
Our group has 14 members now and we don't have all that fancy equipment either. We always taked Holy Water(you need to be Catholic to carry Holy water with you.), we have smudge sticks, white candles, Good flashlights for every member, an Emf reader and divinning rods, and snacks to munch on aferwards and water to drink, we carry garbage bags to pick up trash when we do an investigation in a cemetery, I have toys for boy and girls that I will leave at their stone so it shows that someone still cares about them. Children like that are from the early 1800's., I have different types and colors of flowers for either a man or a woman to lay at their graves. We all have digital cameras and digital re-corders. We don't have anything that is with infra-red either. So far in 10 or so years that I have been in a Paranormal group we honestly have not really needed the expensive things. Plus none of us has that kind of money to buy those things. Yeah, it would be nice to have but not really needed. What is really needed is to be with adults who know what they are doing and teaching you as well. You never go on an investigation by yourself, very dangerous. I am sorry I don't know of any of the sites over there. I will when Heidi gets here though. I am sorry I could not give you all the answers you wanted. I do know that if you get on line or you let the word get out on the Streets, you will get what you need. Our group has grown and keeps growing by word of mouth. Now we have someone coming over from where you live to learn and we have one who is here now from Romania.

What you really need to get into is the SciFi show "Ghost Hunters". They are a group in Rhode Island called TAPS. They are really more technical and a lot more believable than the Most Haunted guys. They use expensive equipment too but they also share great tips for those just interested in the paranormal. I'm 14 too so if you want to talk about it email me. I think the best first step is to get a low cost voice recorder, preferably digital, so you can try out EVPs. They are the most common paranormal entity. You could also look into getting a small camcorder for video. These would make a great start and are all that I have right now at the moment. A digital camera would be nice too. Later you can buy more expensive stuff but just stick to the basics for now. I live in the USA so I'm not sure about supposed haunted places in Australia. But like I said, email me and we can talk more about it.

A friend of mine has strange sounds and such going on in her house, and I did my own little investigation while they were away on vacation. All I used (it was all I had at the time) was a good quality tape recorder and and a timer - you know the kind you plug into an outlet and plug appliances into. I used a timer because I wanted to set the recorder to start at different times. I wanted to see when the most activity was going on. I recorded a lot of strange sounds, the most dramatic was footsteps on the basement stairs! Anyway, you don't have to have expensive equipment to do this sort of thing. • Black Garbage Bags and Powder – You’ll frequently run across stories about children pushing vehicles and things like that. The easiest way to check for phenomena such as this is to spread out a black plastic garbage bag and sprinkling it with powder. Be sure to photograph it before and after. Also, the garbage backs can be used to collect your own trash and any you may find on the site. Remember to always try to leave a site better than you found it.
