Almost every day for the past ten years, since I am always barefoot and don't own a car. I haven't ever had the slightest scratch; can't say the same from when I still wore shoes. Have slipped off the pedals wearing slippers, and have caught shoe laces in the pedals a few times as a kid.

Yes, many years ago, before I got my driver's license, my bike was the way I got around. It was 10-speed, and even had metal pedals. That was a little rough going up hills, but the freedom of being out on my one, barefoot far outweighed that discomfort.
Just a few years ago at the beach, we rented some of those bikes and rode along the seawall. I just went barefoot for that. It was great!

Yes. Tore the bejesus out of my foot. Learned to wear shoes when riding a bike.
(*lol*) I also knew better than to complain, since my parents had said to wear shoes.

yeah, and it hurts. there are those little grip things on the pedals, and if you're really working to pedal, they poke and make ones feet sore and uncomfortable.
