Returning motorcyclist. Away from riding too long . . . approximately 20 years. Now at 47, I am wanting to ride again. I have my eyes on a older Goldwing, and I am wanting to know if I can manage a Goldwing. I owned a FS CB750 sport in the day and rode on occasion a friend's KZ1100. Is it worth my time going to a dealer and ask to testride a Wing?

If you've ridden before, then you won't have any problems.

My friend you will a comfortable seat on the Goldwing. As a rider you are aware of the stability of larger bikes and the Honda is a great example. If you had occasion to ride the "Killer Kaw" and owned a CB the power of the bike will be adequate with some surprising smoothness.
Now then there is a mention of weight. The bike, depending on yr, will have reverse. I would still be aware of exit paths when parking so to avoid awkwardness. As far as stop lights/signs or stop-n-go traffic just dont let her go over. I know very few MEN that could hold MOST bikes up after they break the 20 degree or so plane ( at a stop ). So mind you r vertical stay off the booz and enjoy.

I'm 5'7" and have ridden many Goldwings. The newer, 1987 and up, models have a reverse which eliminates the most problematic situation, back pedaling out of a forward slant parking spot. Riding won't be a problem. What a lot of riders don't understand is how often you push and pull your bike. That is where I have a problem with some as I age. Try to avoid putting the bike in positions that will require man handling.

No problem. Odly enough, as big and heavy as a Goldwing is it is very easy to handle. I am over 6' but only weigh about 150 and I can handle it fine. I like my Sportster since I stay in town mostly but if I wanted a touring bike the Goldwing would be on my short list along with a Super Glide.

Goldwings are gentle giants, as long as you still know how to ride, you'll be fine.
