Not sure if this is what you are looking for but the Beatles had a big hit with Obl di obla da in the early sixties with a cover by Marmalade which was a #1 in 1968 and the lyrics are:-

the only song i can think of with them lyrics you mentioned is, the beatles and ' ob la di ob la da', but it wasnt the 80s i dont think, it sounded reggee though a bit
